breeseomatic
Hey gang. I'm heading up to Mammoth this weekend just for Sunday. I plan on testing out some new gear, a Donek Saber with power plates and also try out Track 225 boots on the BX board. I will also have some proper carving tools, but it's really just a warm up pre-season day for me. If you are going to be at the mountain or even want to go to the mountain, send me a PM. The Plan: Leave LA, Sunday morning at 3AM. Return Sunday evening after the lifts close or whenever the snow gets crappy. Stopping at the Texas BBQ place in Bishop. <- That's mandatory. Gcarve
How were the conditions up at Mammoth?
breeseomatic
Soft dry packed powder, lots of people. So conditions were not ideal for free carving on your favorite alpine setup. Chair 10 was open, and there was some rocks along the side of the runs, but Ski Patrol had the thin poles up to let you know where the obstacles were. I heard that there were some spots with waist high powder from the wind blowing it around, but didn't go searching for it since I wasn't on a rock board and I was still trying to get used to having a board on my feet. All in all a pretty good day in my opinion. But I'm not picky.
Gcarve
Thanks for the update. Sounds like (less than) average conditions for early season Mammoth. I'll wait to head up there once they've had a few more storms.
