mattj
I spotted this today and these skis apparently have a convex base for powder and six "cleats" to bite into ice etc. I figure it looks funky has got to be a b***h to sharpen the edges :) http://gearjunkie.com/dps-spoon-powder-ski-with-cleats
b0ardski
I guess if you can afford a lot of heli/cat skiing you can afford to dump 2k on gimmicks. quick, get in line:freak3: "Release date for the ski is sometime in 2012. The company will not provide a firm price but said the Spoon skis are expected to cost between $1,400 and $1,700 a pair. If you’re a deep-snow junkie convinced DPS might be onto something new, the company has set up a waiting list on its website to sign up and “get in line” to buy these one of a kind powder planks." Sinecure
There's really no need to sharpen the edges on a powder ski. I have some rockered pow skis with flat camber and some reverse sidecut, reverse camber powder skis. They are super fun to ski. These look like they'll be a blast to ski, although even more of a one-trick pony than my reverse/reverse skis. I bet you can make some awesomely fast, quick turns in deep pow on them. And DPS makes some seriously sweet skis.
