?? Help With Image Master for Skateboard Topsheet

16 months work on concave deck image. Subtle contrast and color shadings. Very fine pen line work (that won't show up here.)

Need to shoot/build a high def image for full size inkjet printing (40") onto rice paper for epoxy/glassing as topsheet for multiple boards.

Can I shoot tight image of (x) sections and then somehow stitch them together into a single, accurately registered master jpeg for high quality ink jet printer? I have an (inexpensive) large format Epson printer that will allow user defining print sizing to the 40 + inches that will be needed. Mulberry rice paper of suitable size is available for purchase.

Note: can also shoot a single image of whole deck using Sony DSLR with reasonably large imaging chip.

Would rather integrate (stitch?) several tight images to show minute detail, however. Is there a function in The Gimp that will allow me to accurately stitch multiple images accurately without degrading the overall resolution?

Sincere thanks for all suggestions, observations.

Board was vacuum bagged with 7 plies Canadian maple using the Roarockit system. Graphic designer was H. Kalarickal, who helped laminate the board also.

Apologies for pic quality. Better one(s) to follow. First time I've resized and posted to internet.

Sincere thanks

BB
