bjvircks
This has some commonality to skiing & riding! My take on this is that the skater was, at the moments of approach, was either oblivious or totally unconcerned about the potential consequences of his actions. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2010/07/20/calgary-senior-dies-rollerblader-skater-confederation-park.html
b0ardski
There's no safety code for skaters in the park, but as an inline skater I believe it's definitely the downhillers fault. Many years ago in Seattle Center I had to drop and skid at speed between pedestrians to avoid hitting a mother & daughter cutting across the busy path. It was a wakeup call and I've been avoiding "meat gate slaloms" every since, snow or pavement.
bjvircks
so... you weren't using your poles?
b0ardski
Can't grip the poles with wrist guards on & I don't do pavement without them.
bjvircks
Now I use wrist braces.... when I switched to 100mm wheels and good bearings I broke my left wrist 1st time out.
