kieran
Probably not brilliant to start, although that sounds pretty good to me - mostly those places are so flat they're not hugely interesting: bumps would be great. I assume there's a technology issue otherwise they'd have bumps like at dry slopes..mostly it's caused by the skiers who turn with their shoulders. they rut the steeper area up pretty bad, so you get big (8") pillows of 'mogul' and scraped down to the hardpack baselayer underneath. on the razor i have a blast when it's like that.it's all well and good telling someone you have to initiate turns with lateral movements, but somehow i ignored the fact i'd be absorbing bumps in the same manner. ;)
kieran
tonight was much better, though still a choppy surface. on a whim i put some cheapie mcnasty plate bindings on the razor and wow, what a blast. i can seriously imagine going without softboots come winter on this setup, for almost everything except ice. liftie exchange of the night; "the beginners class are not GS gates!!"'you're right. GS gates are stationary!' :)
