Gabe's First Day on hardboots

Doug, Gabe,

Please chill out both of you. Aren't we few enough to have 2 hardbooters not talking to each other in the future? That would be very sad and very unfair towards me, if nothing else. There would be easy a situation where we'll all ride together and I'll feel really awkward...

Gabe,

Dough is famous for taking the things very personal. He EXPECTS you to act like an adult person, but doesn't have much patience, so his schooling is harsh. I WOULD LIKE to teach you to act grown up too, but maybe go a bit gentler about it.

You are fully entitled to defend yourself. However, you proceeded to openly insult, online, a person who is:

a) Much older then you

b) One of the best and most knowledgeable alpine riders in Lower Mainland

c) Good friend of mine and of the whole group you rode with today

I DEMAND that you apologize to Doug for calling him "idoit" and bashing his riding publicly!

Doug,

Please, let's drop the gear issue. Gabe and I will work it out one way or another, between us.

After Gabe apologized, I would expect you to accept, so we can all be speaking terms again and ride together.

For the record, this morning Gabe got escorted by his father, to the meeting point with me and Roy. He offered to buy the damaged gear from me.

Gabe will epoxy seal the scratches with exposed fiberglass on the board. When the season is done in a week, we'll try to repair the boot together. After that we'll decide on buying/selling of the stuff...

I'd look for a buggered pair of TR9's for parts; it's not like they are super-expensive, and I believe the cuff is the same dimension across all the sizes. It's held in place, as I recall it, with 2 rivets, drill out and re-rivet a "new" one in place. I had a couple of destroyed pairs lying about but they went to a friend who needed parts for his, otherwise I'd have mailed you a cuff FOC. I'll ask about, see if there are any lying about at work. It's the left boot, no?

Gabe, A lot of us have been riding for a good long time. I for one have been riding more years than you have been alive. It isnt the equipment so much as it is the rider. Some of my absolute all time fave boards are the cheap 100.00 clearance rack LAMAR, and ROSSIGNOL, and some off brand re badged boards that people laugh at but when you drop hard into the pipe and school people riding thousand dollar "floaters", it is a tad humbling to them.

Dont let a flashy piece of hardware define who you are as a rider, walk softly and cary a silent sword..... not a SWVORD.

Ive owned expensive boards, and I have to say some are worth the money, but only if it is matched to you and your ride stle and what you want to do with it. Others..... I sell because they are just not for me.

Enjoy what you have, and at all times, be yourself, and stay greatful and true to those around you.... it will help in the long run ;)

BlueB, i agree

I dont want doug to hate me...or vice versa the main reason i had to right such a harsh post was purely to defend myself. the last post he did nothing but bash my personal qualities which was unfair becuase not all the statements were true. However i think i overreacted. Now i know to wait a day before responding.. after i read his post i was really pissed off so anything i said was pretty much harshified since i wasnt happy

i apoligize for calling you an idoit, also i will admit that this was probally all my fault since i didnt really handle the situation that well but flameing me and trying to humuliate me via the forum was not cool

I think all of you are great people, and i would like to be freinds with all of you: I guess me and doug are tottally different people in phycological terms but i think we can still get along. Doug, dont take anything i said to offensively . The reason i edited the post last time was because the first time i wrote it i was mad pissed off so i said things that were not that good so later i edited it so it seemed more nice.

this what i did to edit my other post: i took some stuff out that was mean, i added a appology, and made it overall nicer. Because i relized that you are only mad becuase i guess i am really stubborn and can be stupid sometimes, so after throughly thinking i thought it was to harsh since you are a nice guy and all.

Doug, i think you are a great rider and a kind-hearted person, Lets just be freinds.

later,

gabe
