182 Donek FC1 Olympic

Asking $400 US + 1/2 shipping O.b.o

(UPDATE: After a good few emails about trades, let me say ideally I'd rather sell, but I'd be willing to consider smaller carving/BX/all-mntn boards as long as I you have pics, of course! (Being on the East Coast, the 170 Madd is particularly coveted. ;) I would also expect a roughly equal "trade value" to an almost-new Donek with Olympic construction – that means I don't really want your old Ultra Prime, etc. etc. The only non-board equipment I would be interested in trading for would be newer Catek FR2 soft bindings.)

Well I bought this board from Big Canuck only a couple months ago and never had a chance to ride it, but unfortunately I became infected with a nasty Virus which resulted in the following "problem":

Since I am a poor, poor student, I knew I couldn't afford both, so I made an executive decision to give up the Donek in order to keep the Virus WCR. It was sort of like... giving up the gorgeous blond in favour of the sultry brunette, if you will.

The Donek was rated by Big Canuck as 8.5/10 condition, and has remained that way. Both Big Canuck and I never got a chance to ride it, and it definitely hasn't seen much action on the snow. The metallic red topsheet is in near-perfect condition (some specks/marks in the photos are mostly just dust/dirt or light reflections; sue me, I haven't been home in a month so I'll vacuum tomorrow :p). There is a mark just below the Spec Box which is visible in the pictures, but it's hardly visible in everyday light (just a surface mark that you notice more with a camera's light-reflection angles if you know what I mean).

There are a couple small several-millimeter-length chips along the sides, but otherwise sidewalls/edges also seem pretty much perfect. Ditto with the base; there is one long "mark" running lengthwise close to one side, which you can see in the picture, but it's pretty much a light scratch which you can hardly feel with a finger, and a fresh wax job would take care of it. Overall, condition is "pretty much perfect" and camber seems as-new.

I'm disappointed to be selling this, as I was really hoping I would be able to keep it and do side-by-side comparisons with the Virus. Unfortunately their similar size/riding style is just a little too redundant, especially for the tiny rebuilding quiver I have.

Final note is that "Olympic construction" is noted in handwriting under the spec box. That seems unusual, but it is indeed under the topsheet coating and it's definitely an Olympic model.

Additional pics of specific areas can probably be provided, but I think this should be enough porn for a single sitting.

"Spec Box" reads:

EwWWWWWwWWWWWWW:barf:

Bottom feeders;) Dont we have enough attorneys?????

Just kidding, I always hated the guys who could read that legal jargon. I stuck with physics and calculus instead and did pretty bad at that too.

Why not donate to charity, that Virus is tasty

For those who asked, the specs from Donek's page on this model are as follows:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="600"><tbody><tr><td width="170">182 Jbird FC </td> <td width="55">182 </td> <td width="55">165</td> <td width="55">13 </td> <td width="65">23.28 </td> <td width="65">18.00 </td> <td width="65">23.28 </td> <td width="45">8.1</td></tr></tbody></table>

So, yeah, it's one of the stiffer Freecarve models (8.1 on their 10 scale). For you hefty types worrying, I doubt you're gonna be breaking this board in two any time soon.

(It's a Donek! Why were you even worrying?!? :p )

Still available and welcoming all offers!

Unless you're talking about something that holds an edge like the mythical 158 Madd, I think I'd be looking for mid160s to low170s in a carving board–type style. (Something that will provide a more East Coast-suitable ride than a 180+ board, anyway! :) )
