Flyin Hawaiian
Anyone ever make or buy plastic or rubber disks for TD1s to protect the top sheet of the board? Since its metal directly on the topsheet, there must be some way to protect your board. Just looking for any ideas. I'm thinking I can make my own, but I was worried about the thickness and material because of the distance the mounting screws have to go into the board and changing temps. Don't want to ruin my board.
trikerdad
Do a search for lexan. There are quite a few threads covering your question. Just make sure you are using the right bumpers for the cant plate you use.
polaris
I have a couple of sets. One that I made and one that Donek made a few years back. You are welcome to try either set. I'm not using them. -Ken
stewart Hodgins
I use craft foam from Walmart to protect the board from my td 1's. It is thin enough not to require new and longer bolts and cheap enough to be replaced a couple of times a season. My dad and I have used it for two years and our boards have little to no binding marks.

AaronG
If you do make some protectors for the board out of foam or thin plastic, be sure to also make some smaller shims to install under the urethane bumpers to make those the correct height. Since you are lifting the disc by the thickness of the material, it is required that you lower the bumpers by the same amount. Sean Martin from Donek used to sell these, the kit included 2 disc shims and also 4 bumper shims along with the appropriate longer screws.
