newcarver
I have two boards and have never hardbooted before. Want to know what would be the best one to start on. I ride a pretty stiff softboot board and ride it hard. The 2 boards in question are an old Rossi 156 (don't know any of the other dimensions on it but it is very narrow and effective edge looks to be around 130?) and a Generics 160 Peak (wider at waist with much bigger nose). Which one of these should I try first? Will be riding on groomers with them to start. Bindings will be TD2 or Burton 3D race plate (not the ones in the pic but newer ones) and boots are Burton Reactors. TIA
newcarver
Here are the specs on the Generics: Waist Width=8.75". Eff Edge=137cm. Width=20cm. Sidecut=8.9m
D-Sub
why wouldn't you just take them both? If you're on the western slope...are you riding at powderhorn?
newcarver
Will be at Telluride or Crested Butte tomorrow for the powerder. Also go to Monarch some. Telluride is 1 hour drive so that is where I usually go. C/B is free until the 15th so I'll be going there a lot until that deal is over. I guess taking both would make a lot of sense. I will probably bring only my powder board tomorrow as it's supposed to dump tonight.

newcarver
Yep, in Montrose. Moved here from east coast about 3.5 years ago. Have been to Powderhorn. Pretty fun place on a good day. Slowest lifts I've ever seen though. Will probably try to hit that a few times this season as I got a gems card and can get a discount on tickets. As far as the smaller ski areas go, I am kind of partial to Monarch. I went there a few days last season since they had so much snow and like it a bunch. I need to go back to Powderhorn just to get familiar with it as I haven't been there but once. I liked the Westend area and the aspen glades on the east side. Would love to go there on a good powder day. I usually just go to T-ride when there is a lot of snow since I usually only get about 12 days in a season. I used to go 30 days a season but have 2 kids now and that has kind of put a damper in things. Got the oldest a board this season so I got to get him out more. He's been skiing for 3 yrs now. Smallest will start next season which should make things a little easier.
