newcarver
Looking at a new 98 Burton Alp in a 164 with some Ibex bindings. Would this work for me at 5' 9" and 160lbs? Seems like it might be a little wide. Also, will be just starting out. The price looks great for new equipment at $160 for the board and $175 for the bindings. RDY_2_Carve
I personally would just ride what you already have then look at something a bit longer. Alps are good entry level carvers but what you have already would suffice for that as well. I think your second board should be a 170ish used board of some type like a Donek, Coiler, or Prior. As for bindings I would say get some TD1/TD2 or Catek OS1/2 as an upgrade to what you already have. Theres nothing wrong with that stuff on Klug's site though if you have your heart set on it. Jack M
Sounds like a good deal and a good size for you. What is your foot size, and the waist width of the board? You may like the width, as it will allow you to use lower angles like perhaps 45-50 degrees. This will make for an easier transition from softboots. newcarver
I wear a size 26-26.5M and the board was 21 wide. Soon as I get my boots will try out what I have. Maybe give me a good idea about what upgrades I need. I like having different boards anyway. Would like to get a big quiver.
