185er
Hi there, I'm getting into the world of steep-in this year and I was wondering; when I put the Intec heelss on my Indy, do I necesserally need to put the insert that came with the Intec, or can I use the insert that are already in the boots Thanks y'all
yyzcanuck
The insert that is molded into the INDY is fine for mounting the INTEC™ adapters. However, I would certainly look closely at the condition of the plastic surrounding the inserts and the insert threads themselves to ensure all is well. The T-nuts that come with the kit are meant for boots that don't have threaded inserts such as some of the early RAICHLE and current UPZ. I'd caution you all about using the SHCS (socket head cap screw aka: allen bolts) because the diameter of the head is considerably smaller than the PHCS (pan head cap screw) that comes with the adapter kit. Over tightening of the SHCS drives the head deep into the plastic of the adapter and may lead to cracking. Use what they come with or a similar replacement part. I used allen, but reinforced with washers.
