If I wanted to buy a chair-lift chair... Where in the world would I go about finding one? It would just be so awesome to have one on the porch as a porch swing. We'd have to find a way to mount it using it's current mounting system though for it to be cool.

Check on Craigslist. I have seen lift chairs and even an old gondola from Squaw Valley for sale there before. Also a few years ago one of the resorts here was getting a new high speed lift and auctioned off some of the old chairs so if you hear about any of your resorts getting new lifts talk to them.

Contact your local ski areas to see if/when they might be replacing an old chairlift. That's going to be your best bet if you don't want to spend a lot, especially on shipping. Then you just rig it up on a very sturdy cable from the roof of your porch, or build a glider mechanism for it. My ski club has one in the front yard - its pretty cool.

Yeah, the mounting it wouldn't be that difficult. My brother and I are both engineers, we should be able to figure something out.

Also, when we were at Cabrefae (local) they had a nice new quad that they took the upper frame off of and put some feet on it to make it a bench. It was nice, but a hanging chair would be so much cooler.

Also Crystal Mtn has an Ibeam and they have a chair on rollers (bridge crane kinda lookin contraption) that they use for teaching beginners the ups and downs of ski lifts.

A guy back east has been selling chairs on Ebay for quite a while.

Again, the shipping is likely to cost as much or more than the chair.

Obviously try to find it locally. You would not want to know how many have gone straight to the scrap yard!

I have allot of photos of the different mounts , etc. Just time to find them.
