Zone
Man made hard pack snow. -18C (-0.4F) Did not feel like a skid but can't seem to get any deeper (?light weight on hard snow?), and it seems wide to me.
AaronG
Looks like a carved turn to me, nice crisp lone where the board was on edge. Do your boots overhang? I would attribute the wider track to possible boots dragging in the snow.
Jrobb
I've seen that before when riding with a setback stance. I ride the tail hard and am not far enough forward to get the tip-front foot edge bite hard but the rest of the board from front foot back to tail edges perfectly. The turn is carved but the nose is kind of scraping along making that wider path. Also indicates for me need to sharpen the tip(s). this is of course me, in soft boots. Not putting enough front foot pressure and wandering nose may well be right. Will try again on a cold day/firm or icy surface.
Chris Houghton
What board was used? If it has a catenary or other weird sidecut, it may never carve a sharp smooth line. If it is a regular sidecut shape, it just looks like it wasn't bent enough for the whole edge to follow the nose through the snow.
Zone
Incredible, you guys are good...just from that one shot. The hill was about 30 degree. It was on my back side. Probably not pushing on the nose as much as usual. The board is a Coiler AllMountain that is slightly stiff for my weight, which usually works well if I am aggressively engaging the edge. Probably a little lazy on that shot. PS: Chris, how was Osler today?
Jrobb
....It was on my back side. Probably not pushing on the nose as much as usual. That's one of my default positions too. Pulling the front foot towards me instead of weighting it...front leg straight, back leg bent...blah..blah blah. J
