kirtap
I was just wondering if anyone here did the NROTC program, specifically aviation. I am going into aerospace and know a few people in the NROTC program, but I just want to talk to some who have gone through it. If anyone has, what was it like, did you like/dislike it, or anything else you can think of. Or even if you know anyone who has done it, please comment. Justin A.
I did one semester of AFROTC at an Aviation college. I didn't renew for the second semester when I found out that the Air Force lets you fly for the 10 year commitment, then after your commitment if you stay (career officer) they make you take a desk job for about 5 years. It's still an EXCELLENT path to take if you're interested, but I was paying $45,000 a year to learn how to fly, not how to sit at a desk in a suit. Thinking back, I could have taken the 10 year commitment then cut and go commercial, but I didn't want to change careers that far in. I wanted to be a career AF Pilot anyway. A year later Im in chef school anyway. That's my story, hope I helped some. ________ Honda Cb1000 History
