  1. tryin to figure out how you determined the steel is soft, since almost all edges use the same, and...how is liftline damage a "flaw"?

I haven't said that steel is soft, I've said it's softer... :) Actually it seems somewhat softer and easier to damage than on German or French-mande boards... And yes I consider liftline damage a flaw, since the top edge looks like somebody was biting it (some kid ran over the tail when I was getting of the lift)... I have an almost 10 years old FP standing right beside Coiler (used about 5 times so far) and it looks somewhat more solid... I'm not saying they are bad boards, but personally, I'm not seeing it keeping it's nice shape for long... :(

  2. Just wanted to share. I've passed a RAB mechanism for Head boots as one of my design project in college. But due to the fact that i've dragged my ass most of the semester and discovering that Head boots are incompatible with my feet it never got past an alpha-prototype, nor it was tested although it was a beautiful fit! Perhaps it might be usefull for somebody...

  3. Divebomber:

I think you just demonstrated the reason to have either Trench Diggers or Cateks under your feet.

In metal (alloy) - I trust

That's a rather bold statement... I don't want to start any flame-wars, but composites can actually take much more abuse than metals esp. in sub-zero temperatures... I'm not saying Bombers or Cateks are weak, they seem to be bomb-proof, but their design is oustanding (not OS2s) in the contrary to these X-Bones...

Imho they deserve a public notice... And the way it failed... Doesn't look like carbon fiber.. at all..

    Cheers,

  4. Thanks, The board is an Original Sin, "Sinner" race board, not sure of width but 52 was about the most I could get without overhang.

Rode last weekend on old ski boots which dug into shins, got some Raichle 123s to try this weekend. They feel better around the house, but are quite soft.

So, try front toe up, back heel up? No cant?

First of all Raich-s 123 are way too soft for you and so is the Sinner (I have the same one)... I weight around 175-180 and I find it on the soft side... Though it's not a real issue for an all-mtn(ish) board.. BTW, it has a 21cm waist. Not that great of a board - i have to admit... I'm sure you'll love the axis...

Can't advize you anything on bindings setup, other than to start with the front one perfectly flat and the rear one with some heel lift and no canting at all... oh yeah, and don't try to run for the lowest possible angles... Just a thought.. just a thought...

    Cheers

  5. From what I heard, "Telemark" is the name of a city in norway where people who were working as "messengers" used cross country skis to travel through the mountains. Obviously, it is hard to turn on cross country skis going down hill, so through the year, they developped a technique (Flexing your back leg, weight transition) to control their speed doing "slalom". They called it Telemark. Now your question is ''what's the point?'', well I would say it's just another way to go down the hill, I heard it's pretty fun (and hard). My 2cents. -Jules;)

Looks like what I've wanted to know, thanks!

J'aimerais essayer d'y aller dimanche matin a l'ouverture..

  7. 1. Your softboot gears was sub-optimal compared to your hardboot setup. You have a pair of $450 top of the line boots with themofit liners, a $500ish board, and $300ish bindings. For most people their softboot setup all-together (brand new) will barely cost more than one of those items.

The occasional day on soft gear always serves to remind me why hard boots cost $400ish and good bindings cost close to $300:

Guys you're getting off-track, don't forget supply/demand rule. If they were selling as much carving decks as they sell f/s & f/r, prices would be about the same... But we're only about what, 2% of the total market? Thinking back it sucks, I've paid twice as much for the boots as I did for my whole soft setup.. But no going back for me, I felt into carving right from the beginning... damn it's easier for me to scrape on a caving deck than it was on the soft one...

I've got my g/f into carving, but she has tough time switching after 7 years of FS slamming. Besides I've got her some Clicker boots, so last time she took her old soft setup on the hil (after strugling on a carving deck since the beginning of the season)... Funny thing, she forgot how to slide and was carving all way down... :eplus2: Bloody heel, for the first time I saw somebody folding the nose on a 150cm deck! :biggthump I guess I was successfull in converting her... She was anxious to get back on the Factory Prime... And complaining about quads being tired... "Dear, you have no idea what tired means yet...." :D

  8. Interested in trading for a Comet SL skateboard? bamboo and carbon with Trackers and Hyper/Seismic wheelset. :biggthump Summer cross training to the 10th.

Nice deck! But there is only one problem - i don't skate... at least since I was 10 and I'm not planning to in any near future.. But thanks for the offer!
