Real glad to see that the change was finally made. If you guys want a good laugh, go check out the uscsa website. The way they explain it they act like it was supposed to be a giant slalom all along. oh well, we got the result we wanted. See you all at nationals.

anybody know any good places to ride in Italy? I'm going over there in March to visit my girlfriend, and was hoping to get a few days in somewhere in the alps.

not sure if you're looking for anything specific, but I have a pair of nordica sbh's, used about a dozen times that I would let go pretty cheap. The only thing I'm not sure of is the size, although I'm pretty sure they are 27-27.5. Let me know if you're interested, and I should be able to check the size this weekend when I'm home.

I'm planning on getting out there. what time have you guys been meeting? it won't be too bad out there in terms of snow, and hopefully the crowds will be scared off by some of the cold like you said. see you all tonight

I'll be at the GS tomorrow. Worked up there for a good 13 hours today, but managed to squeeze in some runs between lessons. Conditions weren't great, but the race course should be nice and firm, unless its pooring rain. look forward to seeing you all out there!

I know there are a couple uscsa racers out there, so I thought I would pass on some news I just got, although your probably not going to like it. There was some scheduling glitch with nationals, and apparently Tim Longnecker, (for those of you who don't know him is the lazy ass director of uscsa) decided that the best way to solve the problem was to drop the parallel gs from the schedule. so the events at nationals will be only boardercross, and slopestyle. If you guys are as pissed about this as I am I would suggest sending him your thoughts in an email. Maybe if enough people respond, we can bother him enough to make him actually do something. If you want to see exactly what he said , drop me an email and I'll send it to you. So, give him a piece of your mind, and I'm gonna keep pushing the issue.

yes, I also have fallen victim to those damn skier gates. After taking one too many gates to the face I finally bought a full-face this year. Shinguards are good, and for slalom, I found one of those really old slalom tops at a ski sale for like ten bucks. The best thing about the old ones is that they have hard plastic padding on the forearm, which most of the new ones don't. Only problem was the spectacular 80's color scheme. I wore it as a joke a couple times, but now have resorted to cutting off the sleeve to wear on my leading arm under my jacket. Also might want to look into some padded gloves that come up past the wrist, cause nothing hurts more than crashing a slalom gate right on the wrist. (except maybe a face shot). Trust me, after training with skiers, on their courses, using snowboard gates will feel like a treat.

just so ya know, its gonna be PGS at nationals this year for USCSA. Its more fun that way anyhow. Maybe not for your legs, but the head to head parts pretty cool.

still have the coil? I tried to send you an email, but I was at work and wasn't sure if it made it to you. I've been looking for something to run boardercross on. The coil does have that rounded tail right? I couldn't remember. lemme know.

I'm interested. Are they used? they look like they are in good condition. I'm in massachusetts, so I could probably arrange to pick them up if that works for you. email me if you want so we can work something out. thanks

here's a little backgorund on the WPI thing. The old "coach" seems to have dropped off the face of the planet, and nobody has been able to talk with him yet this year. He was also in charge of the snowboard division of uscsa for the whole country. I'm not exactly sure what they plan on doing to replace him yet, but if you are interested I would send an email to Mark Sullivan. He is the head ski coach for WPI, and runs pretty much everything here in the eastern division. Let him know that I sent you. Not sure exactly what the arrangements were with Sam, our old coach, but Mark can answer any questions you might have better than I. His email is skicoach@wpi.edu. Let me know if for some reason that doesn't work, and I'll see if I can get in touch with him directly. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do.

I'd be willing to come help out if I could get in some training runs. I'm a college racer, and it would be nice to train some snowboard gates once in awhile(I train mostly with skiers). Anyhow, I'm also an instructor at wachusett, I was planning on getting my aasi cert. last year, but college nationals were the same week. It's good to see more organization starting to form here in MA, and hopefully that will lead to the new series being a sucess.

I don't know much about the league out in the mid-west, but this will be my third year competing uscsa, and nationals is always a good time, lots of good riders. (I'm hoping to make up for the digger I took last year). You might try and look into some usasa races too if you want more competition. -Steve

When I left around 9 last night it was still snow up at wachusett. So it looks as of now that I will probably be up there tonight. I'll check in the lounge around 6-6:30.
