Thank you for the company, @tdifan_2003! I hope to ride with you again next season. And for everybody I missed due to this unfortunate event: see you next time!

It was great riding with you!!! You are a very inspiring rider 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼. Such a bummer for the accident that cut your season short. I wish there was a way people teach their kids and themselves basic commonsense behavior on the slopes.

I believe we and many others have an overload of those from Intecs.  How soon do you need them?  Unable to ship them until next week but they’d be free of charge for you.  A day earlier, you’d be all set.  Darn.

I am not an UPZ user, but what about that customer service 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼?!?!?!?

Do you mean the edge protector or the other product they are offering?

That is a very difficult to repair properly. Edge, base, sidewall and laminate will all be damaged. I don't see how you can really fix that. You would have to remove edge and base, replace part of the laminate and possibly sidewall, and then put in a new edge and base. But then you are better off building a new board.

Like Carvin Marvin said, sealing it  (if the edge disbonded from the sidewall) and grinding it down so nothing protrudes may be the best solution. Could well be better and stronger than doing a more elaborate repair.

Where is it on the board? Tip, middle, tail? If it is between your feet you're unlikely to notice it at all.

Unfortunately, what you say is likely true. Especially for big hits. This was a minor one with the edge remaining intact. Let’s see what the shop in Dillon has done, picking it up tonight.

They said the would lift the base, epoxy the bent edge tooth(s), bring the edge back in and reglue the base 🙏🤙🏼.

Upon further research, this type of damage is VERY common VERY 😳😳😳. And, a lot of tech are not familiar with how to properly fix it. Let’s see what local folks will say here.

BTW, haven’t received any message yet.

    Thanks!

Thanks! Thank God it is a smaller ding. I brought it to Mono Cera, by recommendation from the Odd dude ;), and they are fixing it now, I will report once I pick it up.

Maybe a Sportube for further travels or shipping snowboards.

Thanks, but no :(. I usually travel with 3+ boards so no Sportube would help. Though, no I know how to pack them better. However the packing is, the edges have to be supper protected from outside. Yoga mats come to mind first, but there are plenty of - light and compact enough options out there. After all, with any airline, the whole package has to be <50 lbs. One of my faults is that I was lazy and did not completely remove the bindings. Doing so - will reduce weight AND help stack the boards better.

JFC. I would make the airlines comp you.

I messaged you 3 alternatives in Summit County. All are top notch.

  7. Hi,

I am at Copper for a week snowboarding trip.

Just discovered a damage casualty to Southwest 😳😳. A ding on the edge that bent it. Not cut, just bent inward.

It’s a 185 Virus GS board, so I’d prefer to give it to a shop that know what they are doing.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank God I brought … a few boards so I still can go and ride.

    Thanks!!

  8. The idea about group buy is entertaining. Though, if Gumbo hasn't figure a way to get such screws, probably this group buy is not going to work too well here. I for one would be in. But then - what lengths are we going to talk about? For TD3 we would need 12 mm and 20 mm (two different lengths).

About bringing several tools on the slope - for TD bindings, 5 mm is all it's needed. I wish and bike tool had bigger torx on it, but they come with thee smaller sizes. otherwise, a bike tool has worked very well for me so far.

  9. As it says on Gumbo, the screws as we knew them - M6, stainless steel for 5 mm hex are hard to find. Does anyone know where one can find them. Apparently now, the standard for M6 is 4 mm hex. Which I don't like since this was.... one of the issues with ex-Catek company. Now I have them on my plate and I dread the time when I will have to replace them.

I had tried Granger and MacMaster Carr without luck.

    Shoot suggestions.

    Thanks!

Got the boots used in very good condition. Initial fit up was good. First time out and actually knowing how to carve I can feel my back foot's heel lift slightly inside the boot on edge transfers. Almost caught me off guard but I kinda adapted to it, still annoying. All of the straps (excluding toe) are absolutely maxed out. I remolded the liners and it improved slightly.

My question is: I have a 3d printer and software, is it a wise idea to make some wedges to put under my heels to fix the problem? Any other solutions?

    Thanks

I am actually surprised I did not see anyone asked about proper sizing. Or maybe I didn't see it :(.

Are you in the proper size boot?

Yep LB's right.....don't waste time beating a Dead horse...........buy replacement and move on.

I tried an experiment on two new sets of TD3 SW SI's and put Locktite on  shaft screws and Lugs of 1 set and not on the other.....and over 2 years down the road neither has had a problem.......but did replace the  dimpled washers that hold the toe bail up on both sets.   But vibration, wetness or something totally  evaporated the Locktite from the one set!  but No difference in getting lugs off...........just fyi

    So.....Locktite........ not worth the trouble.

Thanks!!! Darn it, I did not order more washers but either I can use the current ones or just get some from a hardware store.

Posted this in the racing board:

So I counted 4 alpine snowboarders carrying flags in opening ceremonies-

    Roc Marguc Solvenia

    Radoslav Yankov Bulgaria

    Julia Dumovits Austria

    Aleksandra Krol Poland

And before Rado Yankov, it had been Alexandra Jekova (BX) for 2 or 3 Olympics carrying the Bulgarian flag :)))))

Major issues with ups in Germany

I have two packages that have stranded in Koeln.. My Virus custom have been in Koeln for 25  days.

With no end in site... Ups customer service is a joke.

If someone has connections with ups maybe they can get to the bottom of it.

Do not use UPS going through Keoln... Period.

    FYI

Ha, Frank said there were a couple other boards coming (or so he thought :(((((( ) our way.

Mine had been stuck there since January 23.

Also, when you say - do not use UPS, did you ask it to be shipped that way??

  14. Thank you all!!!!!!

Project - done. Parts - ordered.

Corey - I tried the screwdriver thing and it didn't work :(. I did see the flats. I tried a vise and ended up using a hammer to flatten the lug along the flats. All good.

So, with the replacements - shall I put Locktite in the Lugs and on the shaft screws?

  15. Mahalo 🙂

    Lugs - totally!!!!

Shaft - well, do I get it right - by what you say, I will need to get a new TD3 SW sole block, too :((((. Would be nice I I found a way to take off the shaft with the lugs and replace just them, not the sole block, too. Don't you think?

  16. Hi all,

    I will post pictures shortly.

I have broken two bails. Luckily, I had spare bindings, so no lost time on the slopes :).

Here are the several issues I have.

    1. The bail is broken inside the lug. After braking two tap out bits, I am temporary giving up on taking the pierces out. Unless I get some great idea how to take them out.

    2. The lug shaft on that particular binding has a hex nut on one side and flat, nothing on the other. I have not been able to lock it on that side so I can unscrew the hex. Any ideas how to do that?

I would appreciate the collective wisdom and experience on the forum :), before I order all spare parts I need.

    Thanks!

    Pics to come.

    Millen
