  1. Photo of Volkl plates please? Not sure if I have ever seen their plates?/QUOTE]

Volkl plates were OEM from Phiokka, my pair had Volkl logo in center, with "macho" "by Phiokka" on the perimeter of the center plate.

Heavy duty CNC milled aluminum, much stiffer than Burton's.

  2. you are referring to the 'set screw' for the toe lever? The hole on the underside of the the toe lever for a small plastic screw?

you could call Burton Rider Services Dept. and ask them

    (800) 881-3138

they might send them for free

  3. ALPINE SNOWBOARDING

IF I WANTED TO RIDE SOMETHING EASY I'D CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND

    hahahahaha that's f*(#in awesome

How about: "Old Guys Rail" and you rip off the Old Guys Rule graphic but replace the surfboard with an alpine board.

My vote definitely for these 2!!!

  4. The board will feel "grabby"...especially on edge. You can see this for yourself by riding on the snow with sun shining directly on it on a warm day and then hit a shaded spot...in the shade you'll imiediately pick up speed and the grabbiness will lessen a good bit.

Cold wax isn't good on anything warmer than the temperatures it's designed for. It definitely makes the board grabby and sticky.

    - this is exactly why I was asking! So, the grabby sensation is from the wax being too 'cold' for the sunny snow? And err on the side of warm, and just wax more often?

    thanks for your great info!

  5. What would be the drawback to using a harder (ie colder) wax them the temp might call for?

Most of my trips involve a fair bit of driving, so my hot wax goes on a day, a week, before I ride. So there's no way to predict what temp I should use.

    thanks

  6. I have pictures of the leg, but didn't want to post them since they kinda gross.

    POST THOSE PICS !!

I, for one, want to see. I've seen lots of "bad" xrays and it's still interesting to analyze the fracture in terms of the forces that we apply to our skeleton.

Seriously, I wish you a fast and uneventful recovery.

  7. If anyone has a set of the top straps that come on a lot of ski boots -

a pair they don't need - please let me know

Most of my friends Salomon, Nordica, etc boots have a non-elastic webbing & velcro strap to cinch the top of the liner tight against the liner tongue.

    :lurk:

p.s. I do not want Booster Straps, either regular or Race. I want NO stretch.

  8. fracture doesnt show up for a few weeks? bull****.

    another medical system failure. bummer.

    hope you heal well!

Hate to say it, but plain xrays miss a significant number of nondisplaced fractures. Not visible. You did the right thing - if it still hurts then:

repeat xrays >>> CT scan >>> MRI

    is the order of investigation.

It is not a "medical system failure"

this is not meant to be provocative - but everything has limitations.

And CT is a sh*tload of radiation. "How did I get leukemia?"

    ...just thoughts...
