It was a long time ago that I rode with a group of you, nights at Cascade. I would have been a few times with my brother Gilbert too. He is retired now and lives near Tremblant.
I have a place at Mont Saint Marie, Que, but live in Ottawa. if your ever at MSM let me know.
We mountain bike a lot at MSM too.

  2. Hi all I am still around and looking forward to riding a few times with the gang, although work is crazy busy.

After Gilbert's 2014 ECES incident, he still seems highly reluctant to ride again. If anything he may try a softer form of hard boots and bindings and an All mountain board, which I have for him. NO more full out race boards for him.

I'll keep posted to see were you all are.

  3. Riding was great last night sorry I had to leave early for a night shift at work. Got there at 4pm and there were lots of kids but I found it very easy to find lots of room to carve. Riding was awesome until I fell and hoping I didn't crack another rib also hoping I'll be OK for Mont Blanc this weekend.

Off of the ride topic if I may, I am switching some gear to try the Pureboarding style and have an extra set of TD2's c/w red or clear elastomers, not sure what Cant angles I have. Would like to give you folks first chance before I post on the Bomber online forum. $250cdn, thats $200US what they seem to go for. Save the shipping. Let me know if anyone is interested.

  4. I had an weird fall last night just coming off the lift (could happen the same in soft boots). My rear boot slipped off and in front of the board while sliding off the chair lift. I hit the ground hard and it feels like but hope I didn't crack a rib. I have a stomp pad but will be looking for a better one now. Thanks Oldsnowboards and great reply JKarve.

  6. Ok I have not been on the snowboard yet this year but will try to be there tomorrow night, I'll need to drive to MsM and find all my stuff as the chalet is totally upside-down under renovations and get back to Cascade in time to ride.

On another note I am thinking about going to a Pureboarding event this weekend near Syracuse NY and or the following weekend at Mont Blanc. Anyone interested? Check out the Pureboarding.com web site.

  7. Hello everyone ... I hate Fortune. And if they are throwing a big bash there is a good chance that the hills will be full of muppets! I would be totally up fro an Edelweiss trip - not been there yet this season so it would be fun. When do people want to go?

OK I’m in for Edelweiss. You guys/gal know the hillsbetter than I, as it has been a long time since I have been to either.

I will be at Edelweiss, awesome happy to be carving again, anywhere.

    See you all there.

  8. Oh shoot! that can't be it the best is yet to come and there is lots of base left. That's to bad I was just starting to get the hang of this. I may be up at MsM for the next two weekends, apparently the last day for MsM is Sunday Mar 30th. Let me know or

LET US ALL KNOW WHERE YOUR LAST DAYS WILL BE.

The good news is Mountain Biking is just around the corner. Check out our trails and map at VeloMsM.com and our mountain fest fun weekend. I'll be managing trail building crews at 2 locations this year with new funding for both, more new trails for Mont Ste Marie and Leslie Parc. If your interested in more info, peterv@live.ca

If I don't see Ian until next year, Thanks so much for your lessons, they really help me get out of a rut and a very awkward start to my carving season.

Bad news everyone ... looks like Cascade is ending night skiing this weekend. Fresh from their website:

    Hours of operation:

Monday, March 17th to Friday, March 21st: 10am-10pm

    Saturday, March 22nd: 9am-10pm

    Sunday, March 23rd: 9am-5pm

Monday, March 24th to Friday, March 28st: 10am-5pm

    Saturday, March 29th: 9am-5pm

    Sunday, March 30th: 9am-5pm

According to their websites Vorlage, Edelweiss and Camp Fortune will also end their night skiing this weekend. Does this mean it is over??? It can't be. I wanted to see you all next week!

  9. Thanks so much for all the tips and lessons Ian, you helped get my confidence on the board back. Much appreciated. Get well soon.

I'll be riding tonight and likely for the next few weeks too, weather permitting, but every indication is we may have an extended season and the best part about this time of year, there are generally fewer people on the hill.

  10. So sorry to hear that Pat, all the best on your recovery. I did a run with you guys Friday and went up the gondola with you. ( I guess before your unfortunate accident).

A similar unfortunate accident happened to my brother Gilbert, Wednesday on his third run at ECES, on Standard near the top steep part. The trail was narrowed by race poles on the right and moguls on the left. In his turn he was surprised by the moguls that he didn't see. end for end and his season is done too. Broken and displaced fibula, requiring surgery and hardware.

he too is looking forward to next year, changing equipment and trying the Pure Boarding style.

Looking forward to seeing you both back at it.

    Peter V

  11. Yes thank you to all. apart from my brother braking his leg, that's the most fun I have had riding in a long time.

    Peter V

PS a number of photographers were taking pictures, also a big thanks to them too. But where will pictures be posted?

  12. Hi Dan I sent an email, I would like to join in your clinic and if you have an extra demo board great. I will be arriving at ECES early Wed morning and should be ready to go for 10:30.

    Thanks

    Peter V

  13. Yes last night at Cascades was great at least 6 carvers, including my brother and I. I haven't seen that many carvers in years. Great meeting everyone and thank you Ian for those tips to help me regain my form. I'll need time on the easier slopes to get rid of bad habits and get used to all this new to me equipment, I think my old equipment and board let me get away with those bad habits.

Gilbert and I are looking forward to next Tuesday night.

Since Gilbert is not on this forum yet I'll add that he is planning on going to Mont Blanc this weekend. He'll likely be the only one on a 180 red Burton Prim.

    Peter V

  14. ^ Good good!

Who's up for a day trip to Mont Blanc this weekend to ride with the Pureboarding gang? Joerg (one of the best riders and people you'll ever get a chance to ride with) is there doing clinics on Saturday, and possibly Sunday. There's a nice dinner planned for 6:30pm Saturday also. I'd like to go, and Saturday sounds better, but I'm flexible.

I'm at J peak this weekend but, brother Gilbert is going to be at Mont Blanc this weekend for sure. Joerg is also at two hills near Syracuse Feb 14 (Fri) and another hill 15 minute away (Labrodor) Feb 15th & 16th. I'm not sure yet but I am thinking of going to this.
