  1. Today:

Razor- Frozen cord, stiff and fast (groomed before last nights refreeze cycle) with some bomb pockets

Balance of runs explored, loose salt piles with bomb pockets and no rigidity.

Sad to hear a 53 YO Philly man passed away Sunday after Ski patrol found him non-responsive.  Be careful out there and keep your head on a swivel.

  2. It’s great to see some old names.  Work and kids schedules forced me into retirement.

Changed jobs with more flexibility.  So thankful to be back out.

My sweet, creamy thighs reminded me I hadn’t been out in years.  14 partial days in so far and a great day yesterday.

I can usually sneak out Mondays, Fridays and periodic midweek.  Typically arrive around 10 to get some early work in and let the sun come up a bit.  Stay until 2-3 depending on conditions.

i forgot how much I missed

“Hey, what is that?”  “It’s called a snowboard”

    ”Is that a speedboard?”  “ultra-speedy”

”Is that a mono Ski?” “Yep, mono-Ski”

”Are you that guy leaving ruts in the hill?”  “Nope, wasn’t me”

”Why would you wanna do that?” “Follow me one run and then ask that again.” “Holy shit! That looks fun.”

Mumbles in the lift line, “look at that thing”  I know they aren’t looking at my butt.

Great to be back, but I think my loving wife is questioning herself buying me a pass for x-mas.  Or she secretly loves it.

  3. Folks,

Couldnt work a season pass into the budget this year, but hoping to get to ECES for a few days. Looking back on this run, I now recall it being one of the best runs I ever took on an alpine board.

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Cmrk90UGxmA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In the run I took less turns than I expected to count, but my brain counted 88, you may count different.

I miss riding this year and hope to get out.

Each year I see different reasons for folks not riding: injury, weather, cost of living, etc.

Whatever it may be I took ~88 turns in this run and can still feel them in my feet when I watch the video.

Enjoy each turn you make this season.

    Greg

PS Then I realized the number 88 reminded me of linking turns, god I miss snow

  4. If you're in the neighborhood (Lehigh Valley, PA) this Saturday or Sunday, stop by and check out Tough Mudder. My team is running the Saturday Race in honor of a couple Marines.

Here is the video I did to drum up some awareness for Mudder, Wounded Warrior Project, Josh Himan (IIA Afghanistan) http://bringcorporalhimanhome.weebly.com/ and Jordan Haerter (KIA Iraq) www.jordansinitiative.com and offer some of the training i did for the event.

    GO MUDDY DEARESTS!!!!!!

If you plan to come, register online, its cheaper.

I hope to attend MAC, but my inquiry is about parking for Tough Mudder in April. any tips to avoiding the parking dilemmas. I have a team of 15 coming in for the event and trying to get us parked all together. Also, besides bear creek, any local houses for rent that you know of. If we can find a house for rent, I hope to have acarb load dinner the night before.

Let me know and cu at MAc.

They are hit and miss. I notice those speed bumps on bottom headwall of razor several days ago and couldnt figure out how they made them that way. the other things I have been seeing this season that hasnt been too bad in a few years if the ridges that run parallel to the slope. I have been doing a ton of so-called wheelies this season from those ridges. As far as the mini and mega death cookies, I have accepted those wont go away, so I purposefully, do not for any reason put my hands down a ridge throws me.

My main issue this year and it happened to me again today is them not taking the snow completely to the edge of the trail, so it leaves big drops offs along sides of trails and todays incident was right at the top chute coming out of widow maker. Setting up for a heelside (on the right) coming from widow and as I initiate turn at the roller, the bottom drops out (about 6' at edge of snow and total of about 12' including drop in slope) The distance was about 20'. Fortunately, it was soft and not those mega cookies they often dump off the side of the trail. On flat days forget about it and be careful of edge of trail. fortunately I was without injury and rode away.

It might be time for a chat with mountain manager. It seems they are more worried about their new fangled ski pass system and speeders in slow zones than the stuff that might maim ppl.

It's Blue, what can you say, and dont get me started on ski team taking Razor every Phucking weekend

  7. Starting with the 7 year old boy then the other boy and girl when they turn 6 or 7.

Contemplating picking a cheap used set of skis, boots to get him started then throw in boarding once he cuts his teeth. Or better to rent? local shops have season rental for $69, but used youth skis are around the same price and I would hope to then use again for the other kids when they start.

I guess I figure I can get more value from buying a cheaper used set than renting each year.

Parental input welcome and anyone that has youth equipment laying around not in use let me know. Size 120 cm ski, youth boot 20 mondo, Board size about 120CM

    Thx

    Greg

From what I heard..........its nuts to butts time, at least on Challenge:biggthump

Though late start, best early conditions I have seen in a while. But then again that could change any given day.

Razor not open as of today, windy.

    Hope to see you out.

  9. Day 1 was compressed microdeath mini cookies. It looked pretty and was ok for general cruising but once you put any teeth into a turn, it gave out from underneath your edge. Good thing this east coast rain arrived to blend it together to be refrozen into boilerplate this week.

    Sharpen em up folks
