Once the show officially gets dropped off here, we will all be thinking about it. Hopefully soon. I send you a response to your email.

Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if we have any members on the forum that are members at Beaver Valley in Ontario? And if they would like to get rid of any guest passes (for a charge of course) that they might have had to buy?
We are having a Superbowl party at a friends place in Eugenia and would like to get out early on Sunday for some boarding and sking before the festivities start later in the afternoon. I think I am the only hardbooter in the group. We are all 30's-40's responsible (while on the hill) guys and would love the opportunity to check out your club. I think we have about 10 or so guys in the group.
If you want to help, let me know.
Thanks

Hey Chris, sorry a last minute snafu at work has me missing out on the fun this year. I apologize for not being able to give you more notice.
Have fun, and someone snap some covert iphone pics of that top secret Apex stuff.

I was looking at my photogallery where the photos from this board were stored online. I all of a sudden got 300 views since the beginning of Oct. So I thought, "the board is gone, I don't need the post on BOL anymore". So I deleted it. Not realizing that STM was selling the board and pointed to my previous post.
So, here is the direct link to my photosite if you want to see the pics.

Eaglez...You don't know this woman and you certainly can't attest to her reasoning as to helmet use. I'm sure every one of us knows or is someone who has made what , in hindsight, turns out to be a poor decision...
Are you saying that you've never made a poor choice that could have resulted in a catastrophic injury (ever drive tired, not wear a seat belt, drink too much and take a chance?). If you say you never have I'd have to question your veracity. So if you died as a result of a lapse of judgement should we all analyze your motives and your lack of consideration as relates to your friends/family? Should we pose on your self image?
Give the woman a break...She made what turned out to be a poor decision but only because of a fluke event.
I suggest we all get off of our high horse and have some reverence for someone who has tragically lost their life and left behind the grieving...
That's what is wrong with people these days. No one is required to take responsibility for their actions anymore. Oh, they must have had a problem in life that made them drink, drive and kill someone... it's not their fault. Oh, that kid came from a broken home and he shot up a school... it's not his fault. You make your choices. You live or die with the consequences. It is that simple. I don't know about you, but knowing I have a family at home that depends on me for a great many things, makes me think twice or more about everything I choose to do in life. And I don't live in a bubble. I think about more than just me when deciding to do or not do everything. That is called taking responsibility for ones self and thinking about others. More people should try that sometime. The world would be a better place. And the lawyers would be obsolete.
It may not be the way you live your life. But I want to be around for my family for as long as possible. Go ahead now, find fault with that.

I agree this is sad. It is sad that the ski resorts won't mandate anything that affects their ability to make money. It is sad that the government won't mandate something that might affect votes. It is sad that ski instructors who rarely fall don't mandate helmets for beginners who DO fall. It is sad that a father and sons have to live without their wife and mother. And it is sad that she made the wrong choice here. But she made the choice, uninformed or not. Given the choice people make stupid ones quite often. 3 people died as a result of impact while skiing or boarding in my little area of the world this season alone. I think that is alot. It is a helmet people. Put one on, and go ride. What is the worst that could happen. It might or might not save your life. 50/50 chance. You'd buy a lottery ticket with those odds wouldn't you. As long as nobody mandates you to.....;)

Sorry Jim NOT an idiot! This injury was one that might only happen once in a million falls. She like MANY others didn't see the necessity for that level of protection for that level of risk. To call her an idiot is to not at all fair...You could, by the same logic, be called an idiot for engaging in the sport that you indulge in. Not discouraging helmet use since I wear one and recommend that everyone who rides/skis should, but an idiot...No...Tragic...Very tragic...
Sorry, definitely a VAIN idiot! "I'm an actor and I don't want to mess up my hair!. They make me look stupid. I don't need one, I won't be going that fast." Well, now see what you look like. She thought only of herself, and now a husband and 2 kids are trying to get on with their lives. So stupid and so preventable. And for all those that preach "I do what I want, and no one's gonna make me wear a helmet", good for you, more hill for me. That's called Darwinism at work.

I hope we can trust the engineers who thought this thing up! It looks like a great ride!

Yep, everyone needs a Coiler!! I already got one though. And my eye is on a new one for next season!

Ok, sorry to jack this thread, but that vid was awesome! What camera do you have and how did you attach it to the board. Great POV of you and the board doing your thing!

Ahh Oro Station and Stradivarsava. More dumb inside alpine jokes..
How 'bout you revert back to hanging out with your park monkey homies then.
-
You could just go for a tour of Venice on Lake Simcoe also known as Oro Station where the famous Stradivarsava is made.
Wonder how long before someone calls their new board "The Stradivarsava"?

I am sure you can buy all the parts at the bomber store.

"The O.P.P. have released the name of the man killed in a snowboarding crash Sunday at the Beaver Valley Ski Club south of Kimberley.
He's been identified as 45-year-old John Zsolt of Toronto.
He was on his way down one of the hills Sunday morning when he tried to carve a turn and fell. He slid down the hill and hit a tree. Zsolt was wearing a helmet when the accident happened. "

I agree, LOL!

Wow, condolences to his family. This just made me think about all those times I waited until the very last second to make my turn.
When I posted a video of my 10yr old son's first few times on a carving board last year, everyone pointed out things for him to work on and things he was doing correctly. But one post from Bordy comes to mind here. My son tends to wait until the last minute to make his turns, right before he reaches the side of the run. Bordy pointed that out, I never really noticed it at the time, but it is one of the things I stress to my son now. Give yourself room for error. The edge of the hill is no place for a mistake.

Has anyone heard anymore about this? I heard that he was a hardbooter.
From the local rag.
>>>A Toronto man is dead after a snowboarding accident at Beaver Valley Ski Resort.
Grey County OPP say the 45 year old was going down a hill at a high rate of speed at about 10:30 AM Sunday.
Witnesses on a nearby chairlift say the snowboarder was midway down the hill and appeared to be carving a turn when he fell, slid a short distance and crashed into a nearby tree.
Police say he was described as a skilled snowboarder and was wearing a helmet.
Police also say conditions were good, with sunny, clear skies and machine groomed hills with a frozen granular base.
However, the man had no vital signs and while first aid was administered on the scene, he was pronounced dead in hospital in Markdale just before 11:30 AM.
Police say the victim's identity will be released if permitted by the family once proper notifications are made.<<<

Hey Frank,
I had a 2005 Virus Tantalus Team Edition. Do you know what sort of construction/materials went into that board. What was different from the Non-Team Edition? I have someone who wants to buy it but is asking about it's construction. Any Carbon, Zylon, Titanel, Aluminum etc. Or just straight fibreglass?
Thanks
Darren
