I have an old K2 Trucker with topsheet delamination. I hope to mount a panorama photo on this and use it as a wall hanging. It would be nice if I could remove the topsheet as it would provide a better base for the photo. I don't know much about materials, but I'm suspecting that the topsheet is some sort of vinyl. Where it is loose from the board, it's fairly stiff. I ran a hairdryer over it, and it softenend (it would be possible to epoxy down in this state), but didn't seem to give up its grip on the board much.

I started out demoing the Donek plate. It really did smooth out the carving, but I'm not sure I like the added weight and lift.
I rode the Donek "backward" VSR (tighter at back end). I enjoyed figuring out how to ride this, and once that was accomplished, it worked fine for me. Did anyone else give this a try?
My own Coiler 170 VSR T met an untimely demise, and my only other board at the mountain was the Madd 158. This proved to be a problem when I found myself on Polar Bear the morning after the dump. Trying to keep the nose up on that took a lot out of me. This led me to try the Coiler 171 VSR T AM. That handled the fresh really well for me and also was similar enough to my defunct board that I came to terms with Bruce so that I could take it home Friday afternoon.
The Donek Rev slalom was a fun ride too.
I know I rode some other boards but my old-timers disease has made me forget already.

It supposedly works on gum in hair - why not snowboard base.

Kinetics,
What size are your Deluxe 225s, and what color are the tongues?
I have some spare tongues (fit mondo 25-27.5 boots). I have 4 different sets of tongues (gray, yellow, red, and black or dark blue). I think I listed those by increasing stiffness. I generally use the reds for carving and sometimes back down to yellow or gray if I'm going in powder or off trail. I have never used the black/blue and would be willing to part with them.
If you have the stock liners, a set of Thermo Flex would also add stiffness -look here:

doesnt that work stuff just suck?
Not for me (retired). I need for all of you young carvers to keep on being employed and contributing to social security.
Thanks for your continued contributions.

Mr. JD! Was that you racing down 7B to the Bunyan on Friday afternoon? If so, aren't you glad I told you to call in sick?
-
Granted, Sunday may be a mess, but Saturday doesn't get up to 50% pop until noon. You guys will be in the Bunyan by then anyway. I think precip for Saturday AM will be light and somewhat mixed.
Call in sick and hit the hill tomoroow if you are worried about a little precip.

Rode yesterday and today. Soft groomed yesterday - got pushed up pretty easily, but hero snow until it got lumpy and I got worn out. Groomed firmer today and lasted pretty much all day.
Met Rob Alexander both days. He was still carving up a storm on Picaroon after 2pm. Also found carver Dan and turned him over to Rob when I had to go up top to get ready for sweep.
Snow should hold up well for the weekend.

Today in Plymouth: 3" snow plus some wintry mix and a bit of light rain. Current temp 33.
Those guys at UPS can be such a tease. Wimps, don't they know it's important to deliver this while we have snow? Some tracking data on my Coiler:
02/28/2011 3:09 P.M. Emergency conditions beyond UPS' control.
02/25/2011 10:35 P.M. Emergency conditions beyond UPS' control.
02/25/2011 2:21 P.M. Emergency conditions beyond UPS' control.
02/25/2011 6:03 A.M. Out For Delivery
...
Canada 02/22/2011 10:02 A.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS
Screw it, I'm going to Loon tomorrow anyway.
-
Looking at the demographics of most alpine riders, very few of us are still in our 20's ...
Speaking fo rmyself, I'm only 21 (but it is the 3rd time around)
-
UPS apparently couldn't make it up the hill today to deliver my new Coiler VSR. Probably won't be able to fondle it until Monday.
-
Hi, I did a couple of hours at loon this morning, loon had no rain, it was groomed and then 3" fell on the groomed, it was fun plow thru snow until it warmed and got a little choppy as it got a bit solid, I think as it cools off sometime? and is groomed that the snow can be saved to make good carving, I hope, plus I think more is on the way.
Excellent today also. Even Gleb and I were able to carve a bit.

Slope rage , sad
SteveInOregon, Old Man, indeed
That guy (admittedly a bad and dangerous fellow) at 41 is by no means old. If he's old, what am I (21 for the 3rd ime around)?
Careful with those titles.

Gleb, I have a well used Yakima Rocketbox that I haven't used in a long time.
It probably needs some refurb, but I would let it go cheap. Let me know if you are interested. If will be up around exit 25 some time, give me a shout.

I don't think I could manage an annual trip, and I'd be nervous about demoing new gear that often. I would probably want to buy and then feel bad that I couldn't afford it.
Would demos really be possible that often? There are other sessions that the manufacturers are probably asked to support too.

I've been at the ECES event at Stratton all week. It's pretty carve friendly and currently has a load of snow all over the mountain. If you are planning a visit in the near future, I'd rate this one pretty high.
I have no experience with weekend crowds at Stratton, and expect that it would be much busier than what we have seen this week.
-
Is Loon gonna have it's $hit together by the 31st? We got a lot of rain at the loaf.
A lot of rain hit Loon too. I wasn't there yesterday, but word is that several trails were bone-jarring.
It was actually not bad today. Most trails were groomed. Some were groomed a couple of inches deep, some were very firm, and some had a little of both so you had to pay attention.
Snowguns were cranking on Walking Boss top to bottom. Guns were also on Sunset and Upper Picked Rock. Guns were running at the very top of Angel Street - top 100 feet or so was fresh, the rest down to Cant Dog was ultra firm groomed, and then from there to the bottom was mostly nice deep groom. Ripsaw was closed today.
Tomorrow should be better still.
