  1. Well, Snowboard Canada invited him for the 1st WC event. If you were in his boots and trying to qualify for the Olympics in SBX, Would you give away your spot for a WC event?

And this is the list of invitees to the Lake Louise WC event (2nd eventof season). 11 men are invited. I don't think he's taking anyone's spot for that one.

Dec 20-21, 2013: Lake Louise, CAN

    Men

    Robert Fagan (Squamish, BC)

    Chris Robanske (Calgary, AB)

    Jake Holden (Caledon, ON)

    Kevin Hill (Vernon, BC)

    Thomas Pitman (Trail, BC)

Jasey Jay Anderson (Lac Supérieur, QC)

    Matt Tunnicliffe (Gananoque, ON)

    Mitch Pitman (Trail, BC)

    Baptiste Brochu (Saguenay, QC)

    Danny Bourgeois (Rosemère, QC)

    Tyler Jackson (Whitby, ON)

JJA is the best Snowboader that Canada has produced, there are 4 qualifier races for the olympics in SBX, JJA has not raced in SBX since 2009 . The schedule would suggest that JJA could only do 2, the last two races conflict with his Apline Races. He should of retired at the end of the last olympics. Give the up and commers the experience they will need at the World Cup level.

  4. Hi Ladia,

    Its an attempt to stay progressive, and part of the truth is;

    1. dual format is too confusing to the general public. want to simplify it

    2. our current dual format takes to long, we need to condense our event into 1 hour for tv and media.

    3. Slalom is a format that can take place on smaller hills, therefore involve more people in racing.

I have to say that if dual format is confusing, then 3 courses has got to be a nightmare for the public. I agree with Ladia, its hard enough to set courses in a dual. Good luck with that. :smashfrea

  5. :):D:biggthump

That is great news, I can't wait to see it. I saw A WC at Stoneham and it was alot of fun, but I really think that with a great finish area down by the Village at Blue. It will be awsome. Last years SX was. Good luck to your son we will be watching.

  6. The Sept. 13 CSF line up for World Cup qualifying shows Blue Mtn - Feb 6-8 in Block 3 !

Now I'm excited!!!; to see my boy race in his "backyard" will be incredible

Lets hope they can make it work. And its finaly nice to see that the Development members on The Canadian Snowboard Team are starting to get some recognition from CSF on there website.:biggthump

  7. Ok Found it. If you go to fis website click on snowboard, then fis world cup, scole to bottom of page to FIS World Cup Calendar. You will see what I am talking about. It does say subject to bid. The date they have picked is the week after the SX / WC ,but the same week as the US Nationals at Canyons. So lets hope they can make it work some how.

Mike Robertson to join coaching staff at Evolve

    Aug. 14, 2011

OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALLIST TO JOIN SBX COACHING TEAM AT EVOLVE

SBX Olympic Silver Medallist Mike Robertson is to join brother Adam with the Evolve Ski & Snowboard Club, giving their Performance team the strongest coaching team in the country

Mike will focus on coaching athletes in the Evolve Ski & Snowboard Club Performance Snowboardcross program, helping Canada’s next generation of SBX riders to reach their dreams in the sport. Mike will join his brother Adam Robertson who has led many of the current National Team members to where they are now. This Evolve team has a great combination of competitive experience and coaching background. The Evolve team also has it’s own full time SBX track at the Lake Louise Ski Area, which will give its high performance athletes all the training tools they require to succeed at the highest level.

At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Mike claimed the silver medal in Snowboardcross. Showing great dedication to the sport and pushing through many injuries in his career, Mike achieved a career best result by claiming the silver medal. Mike’s superior technical skills and mental toughness allowed him to succeed on this important day.

Mike ran into injury troubles and sustained a concussion on the World Cup circuit, following the Olympics, that sidelined him for the 2010/2011 season. Mike is taking another year off competitive SBX on his road to recovery and he believes coaching would be a great way to give back to the sport that has given him so much.

For more information on the team please visit: www.eveolvessx.com. Or alternatively contact Adam Robertson at (403) 991-6747, arobertson@evolvessx.com.

  9. Thats awsome. The hard booters need more events at the Olympics. I also heard that next year in BX they will be doing more 6 man heats, thinking they might head that way for Olympics. They are also thinking of team events with 2men relay. They have had a few already over the last couple of years, and the riders seem to like it. :biggthump

  10. Wow that was intense to watch. And gave an idea of the speed of these things.

Don't like the last jump. :nono:

I can tell you that I was there in the finish area watch these guys come over the final jump and it was very intense watching as most of them were in servival mode. they had to be 15 to 20 feet in the air and traveling anywhere from 90-120ft distance. The guys on skiis had a better chance but the snowboarders had a hard time with it.

  11. Thanks Rob

I didn't relize Simon was the Development Coach. I didnt relize he was certified. And yes I would agree that Pierre is the best SBX rider today. Watch for Kevin Hill in the future, if he stays healthy, he could be in that league as well.:biggthump

  12. My son Kubo (now 9) is "all about alpine."

When we asked the president of USASA (the only place to race at his age) about the future of alpine, we were told that the future of alpine is boardercross! SAY IT ISN'T SO!

I'm afraid it is so, SBX is more exciting and pure racing. Every year you see more Alpiners making the switch. I only hope it starts getting the same kind of money behind it like BA and HP. ;)
