  1. I definitely don't always ride shoulders in line. It depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. The PureBoarding guys like massive rotation from what I recall of a clinic. Some people like to have rigidly locked boots, others ride in "walk" mode. Once upon a time I rode with knees jammed together, now they're neutral.

Unless you're trying to get into racing, do some experimentation because it's an art. Watch some carving videos and try something new each time.

Knowing *how* to snowboard, you'll have an easy transition.

  2. Guy behind me yesterday must have noticed the Rev180 and 60 degree angles. Made a phone call I guess. "Dude, I'm behind a thing that looks like a snowboard but it's not a snowboard!" I just kind of shrug my shoulders at those.

Next run I had a person in the line next to me say "wow, a Donek! I have one too, but don't have the bombers."

    Never know what you'll get.

  3. Have standard TD3 pre-Gumbo.  Recently picked up a used board with F2 step in bindings.  Figured I'd give Intec a shot, and now I'm curious about switching my standards to step-ins and not have to worry about changing heels or boots.

Has anyone made this conversion?  I tried searching but after various iterations I don't see it.

I see that BOL has a TD3 Upper Kit (https://www.bomberonline.com/TD3-Upper-Kit_p_34.html) at $200.  Looking at it, I don't see why I need sole blocks and lugs, just the bail.  Plus the heel receiver.  Is that toe block the same as the standard heel receiver?  Don't I just need to pull off the block shaped heel bail and insert a rounded toe bail (https://www.bomberonline.com/Trench-Digger-Bail-_p_24.html)?  I would need 2 of these at $12.  Plus the heel replacement kit (https://www.bomberonline.com/TD3-Step-in-Heel-Replacement-Kit_p_30.html).

What am I missing?  Do I need the $200 kit when I can just get the bails and heel replacement for a total of $89?

  4. Backhill, Cruise, Kelley Extreme, PJ7 (the first one), Mystery. Those were the days, saving up from mowing lawns, driving up to the factory before the catalog even showed up. I even remember when they debuted the disc system, if you wrote him a letter with the calculation of possible stances they sent a handmade necklace of twine and a slice of a branch with a B burned on it.

I'm still hanging on to my Alp 7.1 and ride it when I am looking to goof around.

    Thanks Jake.

  5. Gorgeous view! Thanks for the input. I was definitely leaning toward xr, as most of my intended rides are packed dirt or grass and the pint just seemed like not enough deck. I'm 6'4, 185, size 11ish and I worried about squirrelly nature of the pint.

I keep checking their site for black Friday announcements.. but figure if I dropped 1200 on a donek, what, 300 on td3s, same on boots, sometimes a lift ticket, I can sure justify 2000 on a summer board. Just wanted to be sure I'm getting the right one. Been watching videos for years, it's time to pull the trigger.

  6. Considering one of these, if the black Friday deal looks good. Anybody with experience able to compare xr and pint?

I know neither will be the same as laying down a carve, but is one closer to it? Any input about what you would choose, ignoring the cost difference?

  7. Briefly, as a fellow east coaster, I found the Rev far more suited to me than the proteus. Variable scr, more stable. I kept getting back on the 180 (11.5-20?). Felt like I was going over the nose of the 168, 185 was giant sized, 170 too soft, 175 was fair.

Btw, I'm 180, 6'4. The Rev and I enjoyed long strolls through the meadow and quick cuts through the narrows. Match made in heaven.
