  1. Cleaning out my gear closet.

    I have a pair of Deeluxe Suzukas with Thermofit liners size 28.0 Mondo. These boots were used for less than 12 days on snow. Very good condition. I cooked the liners only once, so they can be cooked again. I did not like the fit and moved to a different boot.

  2. I taught alongside Jeff in the mid-90's at Beaver Creek. He ripped in soft boots and hard. A soft spoken guy who genuinely cared about the "health" of the snowboarding community, he truly believed in bringing new people to the mountain to teach them the sport he loved. After I moved away from Vail Valley, I would always look for him and catch up over a few runs when I made my annual pilgramages back to Vail/Beaver Creek. He was a real ambassador for this sport and will be missed...

  3. Between my girlfriend and I we have had a total of 5 minis. Sent two back for battery issues, and the ones we got in return were only marginally better. The other one simply stopped working.

    Here is what you need to know...

    There was a lawsuit that apple settled relating to the Mini and its abysmal battery performance. It may or may not be worth your time (I decided against it), but go here if you's like to learn more:

    At the end of the day, the Mini was a bad product. The Nano is a replacement device that has a battery life 4X as long and is a much better player all around...

  4. Wondering if there is a methodology for computing a rider's weight and matching it to an appropriate snowboard. There has always been a general amount of discussion on this board about what a riders weight needs to be in order to purchase certain equipment (particularly boards and bindings).

    I know that a 220 LB rider clearly shouldn't purchase a 140 cm board, but besides for general rules of thumb, is there a more "formulaic" approach to determining what board characteristics a rider should look for and consider based on their weight? Obviously the aggressiveness of the rider comes into play, and I for one have always made every effort to ride the gear before buying it, but what about a newbie who doesn't have that option?

    Just curious...

  5. I'm looking to expand my quiver to include a board that can travel a bit better in powder, crud, bumps, etc. I'm a big guy (200+ lbs.) that rides aggressively.

    Let me know if anyone is looking to get rid of a board that would work for me.

  6. Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I need to dig up some 4-hole discs or upgrade to some Bomber TD2s! Unfortunately I'm not riding as much as I used to, so the prospect of dropping another chunk of change on new bindings in addition to the new board is less than appealing (particularly since I have 3 perfectly good pairs of raceplates ready to go.)

  7. OK. I apologize in advance if this sounds like a completely naive question. Quite frankly I'm not terribly "handy" when it comes to setting up my gear, and I searched the board and was unable to find a concrete answer.

    I have ridden Burton equipment since '89 and nothing else (I can see some of you rolling your eyes!) I am looking to add to my quiver (Factory Primes & Speeds) and want to purchase an all-mountain board that works a bit better in powder and the choppy stuff; something akin to the Prior 4WD or the Donek Axis.

    My question is this: Assuming I want to transfer a pair of my Race Plates to the new non-Burton board, what additional equipment, if any, do I need? Do I need to purchase a new center-disk to accomodate the bindings? What's the genral rule here?

    Also, any insight you want to give me on Axis vs. 4WD or other similar boards would be welcome...
