So, I'm carving along down the slope with a lot of other people and have a collision. What next? Who's at fault?
The facts of any lawsuit are what is put before the trier of fact, be it a judge or a jury. Crap, just like what is written here, can cloud the issue for legal discovery and ultimately for a trial. Wether you jump up and say "I'm sorry" a thousand times or you jump up and shout "You hit me you bastard" means nothing - just more evidence that MAY make it to a trial.
It is ALWAYS in your best interests to consult an attorney after a incident in which someone is throwing out the word lawsuit. Always.
This talk of "manning up" and etc. may be macho, but they are not the people that are going to be working for minimum wage to pay off a $8,000.00 judgement for you. I know how that builds character, but think this over:
Little Tommy on the other snowboard also had a duty to look where he is going and be in control of what he was doing. From the OP's first posts, it looks like little Tommy was negligent.
Either this thread is a complete put on or the OP is somewhat of a moron by not deleting it. As an attorney for Little Tommy, I would love this, whole bunch of statements against the OP's best interests, and a whole lot of statements by qualified "experts" saying the OP was negligent.
Just make the check out to Little Tommy's parents.

My 8 and three-quarters cents worth of advice. OP, delete this thread, or, we need to see the blog on how long it takes you to pay off the judgement. If you need to fess up and air everything in public, we want the blow-by-blow account of how depressed you feel that you dug yourself a hole and got to jump in it. Really, that's entertainment. And, just so that you know, even by deleting this tread, it still can be found in the archives of some server somewhere.

1. STOP explaining anything about the accident. You post stuff and it can, surprisingly, come back to you.
2. Get a legal consult - unless you want to pay for $8,000.00 + in dental work - ask me how I know the cost, heh heh. Only a local attorney that knows your local laws and how they are interpreted can give you good advice, everything else is "internet" legal advice, and it is worth every penny you spend on it.
3. You might be able to speak to a legal aide attorney for free, and even a lot of attorneys will give you a free or reduced cost initial consult. Do it soon.
4. The legal stuff on the lift ticket is designed to protect the resort, so don't think that it protects you. Besides, the resort has attorneys on retainer, you don't.
5. Get back to the ski patrol and get a copy of any information that they have on file about the accident. Hopefully there isn't any. Talk to an attorney, he'll/she'll tell you why. If they don't have any info, make sure that you can get that in writing in case anything is "discovered" in the future.
6. Don't listen to me, talk to an attorney.
Mom and dad are pissed about paying out of pocket for teeth - which in the states are usually covered for only about $2,000.00 per year for a family.
It was an accident, you weren't gunning for the little guy. Did I mention you should talk to an attorney?

I have 2 sets of F2 Intec heels, one used and one new set, but currently unmounted. The new set has no play at all, the used set has over 30 days on them and have no discernable play on the right foot heel, but it has a bit of slight play in the left foot heel, under 1/32 nd of an inch.
160 lbs, regular footed.

In defense of the younger generation, I remember the dim past when I grew up - kids still ran around at functions and at public places, people lit cigs up anywhere they were at, including Church, there was a lot of mouthing off and general disrespect, and people did not listen to their 'rents. Don't try to make the past more gentler and refined than it was. As a kid you didn't directly push back at adults, but you sure did backbite at them.
I don't see any more or any less disrespect than when I was a kid. I do see some of the younger generation with a sense of entitlement that we did not even think about when we were young. They must be the sons and daughters of mortgage brokers or something.
My kid grew up giving me lotsa crap and not listening to me. 4 years in the Corps, and he is very different. He is a very respectful guy, but will not take grief off anyone, and knows how to pick his fights. He has this really calm and measured way of behaving and is a genuinely funny guy. He has not been charged with anything yet and gets in some good punching practice. Last fall some asshat in a Mercedes thought Jake cut him off with his little 2 seater Honda, so he got on Jake's tail and kept his vehicle there. Jake pulled off the road into a parking lot and the guy with the Mercedes (including wife and young kid) followed. Jake parked and the guy jumped out of the Benz, and confronts Jake. Jake is about 5'8 and this guy was over 6 foot and buff, dressed in a suit. He starts to push and shove on Jake, Jake takes the requisite 2 punches and 2 steps back, and then just pounds the guy into pulp, and holds him down until the cops arrive and arrest the guy. In front of his wife and kid. Many witnesses. Not a scratch on Jake. Stuff just like this has happened to Jake about 4 times in the last 2 years, and not one of the purps were younger than Jake who is 25, except for the 3 guys that *tried* to rob him with a knife at the atm. But that was in the hood and was a tactical mistake by Jake. On another occassion, a guy in his 50's attacked Jake outside a bank in full daylight with witnesses. The guy was pissed about a parking spot. That guy was hauled off in cuffs also after being severely beaten. These were "older" generation people that didn't have the judgement to know when to behave or the judgement when to back down or to not start a fight.
Not once has any kid on a snowboad tried to hurt Jake or me for that matter. I can't say that I have seen any behavior in a lift line or on slope that would qualify for anything other than stoopid.
If you think about most situations where you get pissed at someone, it is extremely easy to just walk away and say nothing. Saying anything - ulness someone is in real, proximate danger - is like tears in the rain, not effective at all. I don't even try to point out bad behavior to other people, they can't see it, and won't see it.
Tolerance and having the right panty size usually will get you through these situations. People grow out of the juvinile behaviors **usually**. If they don't, it is their issue.
And usally a word to the ski patrol about the idiot bouncing the chair is enuf to get it handled.

Ya know, I have a vision here of a mixed-use area with skiing/boarding on top and energy-efficient underground housing below. Think this thru and it is a win-win deal with just a little govt funding.

Side effect: we get our Constitution back from the extremeists! You know, those chicken ****s and chickenhawks that believe there is a terrorist under every rock and the only way to preserve deomocracy is to torture foreign nationals and break the Geneva Convention!!!!!! For those of us that have actually fought for this country, that crap is an insult to everyone that has been wounded and died for the flag.
It is a PRIVILEDGE to spend this money in Duluth and preserve democracy.

My 2 cents
You are obsessing too much. My first set of ski boots "fitted" to me at a ski shop were mondo 27.5 and they felt real good. They were crap on the slopes. I went to get fitted by a real boot fitter and they put me in a mondo 26, and I have worn mondo 26 since then. Because of the LAST forms used, some boots I can't wear because they are either too narrow or too wide for my foot. A LAST is a foot shape and can vary within a manufacturer's different boot lines and definately between manufacturers. My foot measures 26 cm exactly, so I can't figure how I was ever fitted for the 27.5.
Go wth the length measured in MM (CM), and then find a boot with the right width. It is real easy to see if you have the right lenght size by taking out the liner and seeing if you have 1 to 2 cm (1 to2 fingers) of space behind your heel in the shell with your toes just touching the front of the shell. If that is the case, you have the right shell size for length - but you won't know that unless you put your foot into the shell. If the width is ok for your foot, then it is just a matter of fitting the liner. If it is heat moldable, you should be ok. If the liner is not heat moldable and it pinches your foot anywhere, it may pack out, or you can purchase a set of heat moldable liners to put in the shells and mold.
I have never compared my street shoes to my mondo size, but I fit in mens 8.5, 8.5 W to 10 comfortably. Depends on the manufacturer. And I can't wear New Balance anything because the shape of the shoe hurts the top of my foot - always, and very painfully.
I always use custom foot beds for ski/snowboard hard boots, and always get fitted by a bootfitter. It costs a little more but the results are comfortable.

I was at Afton from 8:30 to 2:30. People asked me some strange questions about my board. Busses of people showed up, kiddie lessions were going on, the stem-christie people were out in full force. Not really bad, just had to slow down at times. Snow was in good shape.

Over the counter.
Any compression bandage will keep the area from swelling and retaining water. A neoprene knee brace may make your knee feel better just due to that at the end of the day. But, compression also can reduce blood flow to the area compressed - that is what compression sleeves are used for in surgery and etc. So compresson neoprene braces may have a plus/minus effect (outside the smell factor). I know that my neoprene brace helped to stabilize my knee when it was injured and reduced the swelling and pain and I just walked and ran thru my recovery period.

I slammed into a fence skiing a while back and my knee was killing me until I got the neoprene brace pictured to the right. It has metal arms and a joint on each side, and provided a lot of relief. Helped me recover without having to lay off skiining. When I broke my freaking leg and the Doc(s) misdiagnosed it as "possible soft tissue damage", the neproene brace did not provide much comfort, so I got a set of Asterisk Cell braces, the red and black ones in the picture. I only used the left one, and, wow, a lot of relief from the pain. Can't move the knee but in the direction it is supposed to move in. I wore it when the pain and swelling was kinda bad. I was going to go thru the process of getting it attached to my boot so that I could get back on my ski's, but then I finally got the correct diagnosis - broken leg (vertical fracture).
I then proceeded to wear the neoprene one for about 2 months, and yes, it still stinks to this day 2 years later.
I am keeping the Cells for when my next knee injury happens:eek:. A lot of skiers and moto people use these. They articulate very well and don't let your knee joint wander. Not too bulky, they fit under the pants I normally wear. You feel invincible in them:eplus2:

Deeluxe 325T boots size 26.0 (marked 26.- -26.5 on the inside shell). Purchased middle 2008 from Bomber, used until the end of March 2008, about 15 days. Boots are in excellent shape, liners have been molded once. The black thingies on the liners are ankle wrap pads my bootfitter put on to reduce heel lift. They come right off. You also get the original craptastic stock footbeds at no charge. Attached is a BTS system from Bomber used about 3 days. I want to get $275.00 for the boots and BTS. Original lean mechanism included. You pay shipping from Minnesota.

Rick, can you tell us which of these have the rubber finish on them like yours? This is one of the few situations I can think of where friction is good ;)
IDK for sure. Shoot them an email. There is also someone on the web that sells a "boot fit kit" that I have seen that has a package of an assortment of these, but I cannot find the link. I'll keep looking tho.

How thick are those footbeds? The custom footbeds I have are about 1/8 inch thick uniformly across the length and width. Yours could be too thick.

My bootfitter will charge $130.00 or so for custom footbeds and all the fitting is thrown in, - molding, grinding etc. - no matter how many times I come back for adjustments.

Tele turns out to be fun, but physically challenging. If you can believe it, I am better carving? But, being on tele gear seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable, they give you a large berth in the lift line. What's up with that?
