  1. My boots are pretty tight so in an effort to sort this out i was riding with no socks- this resulted after a week in the worst smell imaginable.

how do you get rid of it?

Liners are raichle 324 thernoflex, was worried about washing them, etc

secondly, because of the smell i thouught i could buy some really thin socks instead. was thinking of the lycra thermal type ones, ie the thinnest possible.

anyone use them or have any thoughts?

    cheers

  2. I have just come back from a weeks boarding and ice and rocks has equated to blunt, damaged edges. I have used an edge guide to re edge the edges on my 172 all mtn to 1 deg base and 2 deg side bevel. THis is got the edges pretty sharp but i feel razor sharp would be better.

how do i get them this sharp without changing the angkes? I thought i would just mount a medium then a fine diamond DMT file into the edge guide and keep goiong over the edges until they are really sharp.

    Any reccomendations?

  3. Is it normal for your feet to feel like they are trapped in an ever tightening vice for the first few hours of riding each day?

I get the pain so bad that every lift i have to loosen ther clamps and even mid run. I do not tighten the boots excessively although bear in mind that i go 10 months in between boarding so maybe thats just why. Boots are raichle 324's.

Secondly for the first few days of riding it felt like i had ingrown toe nails on the inside of my big toe, so it hurt relatively but was more annoying. This was prob becasue my liners are a very tight fit even after using a toe box mould. Angles are 45 deg f&b.Luckily this disapeared after 4 days riding.

    This normal too?

Lastly with 45/45 the outside of my feet hurt like hell for the first 4 days on the snow.It felt like the bone/tissue running parallel with my little toe (ie outside edge of foot when viewed plan) was bruised. I put this down to the fwd and back movements on the board.

    Yet again is this normal?

    cheers guys

  4. From a recent discussion in the classifieds it seems some boards ride better when the binding discs are mounted by centerign them on the insert pattern whilst some are better when the discs arte mounted by centering them on the boards sidecut/effective length.

What boards do people recommend doing which way?

I have a prior 185 wcr and am wondering how best to mount it( so to speak)?

  5. definately get back to us. I have lost my front left big toe nail twice and am looking for a solution.

i have remoulded my liners with a toe box, stood in the boots without liners, tried riding without socks but still no luck. it feel slike the pressure is cause more by my toe pushing upwards against the boot as opposed to into the end. this got me thinking i might need to adjust the fwd lean on my raichle sb 324's to get my weight more fwd and prevent that painful upward force that i beliebve is from leaning back too much. it could also be a technique issue, maybe when im tryig to squat lower i rock back slightly and push the toe up against the shell?

i ride with toe lift up front and heel lift in the rear also. i have narrow feet too.'

    thoughts?

  6. Am i right in assuming you could quite easily have one set of ski's to do it all?

(if u were just a skier that is)

That the relative differences in strong points of one ski vs another are smaller than that of snowboards. For instance comparing a gs ski strongpoint- say large radius carves against trying to lay large radius carves on a slalom ski.

do the geometric differences of skis (dimensions & specs, excluding length) on paper translate to less of a noticable difference on the snow than that of snowboards?

it is ideal to have different boards for different conditions, do you really need this with ski's?

am excluding racing obv and maybe the need for wide skis for powder.

I might(read probably) have been talking a load of cr*p but what do ppl think?

  7. I have been reading the recent skiing articles with interest and am tempted to try skiing again after 8 odd years of boarding.

My worry is that if i try the 'new' parabolic skis and get that same 'carving feeling' on them as i do my boards then i will be wondering what im doing with 3 boards- and dare i say it 'with snowboarding at all'

can you get that same on the edge (no pun intended) heart racing feeling with ski's that you experiance with carving?

    If not, phew

If so, then bar powder and 'for a change' why would you need to hardboot?

dont get me wrong i love boarding, especially carving but am just skempted

  8. I woudnt blame the demise solely on cmc, text u probably remember the sh*t that 'really good average rider" and "surf alias" came out with, they were who to mainly blame for the demise. This in turn led to PSR leaving which was a real loss.

Anyhow if the forum is supposedly dead CMC re-introducing the challenge should not do any harm.

The fact that he did not acually win it last year also takes the arrogance out of the challenge.

people should not be so touchy, if he wants to phrase it like that let him, its no skin of anyones back.

  9. Started skiing with the family at 4(1987), got pretty good but got bored about 8 years ago- just before the carving ski's came out here in Europe.

Trying snowboarding was the obvious choice, plus it was the cool thing to do at 13. During my first ever week in France, i believe, i saw what can only be described as a holy sight- a a carver. From there on its what I wanted to do. By the end of the 1st week in softies on a rental was carving, went for my second week, after that bought my nidecker escape and plates and went from there.......have never looked back.
