  1. . The 182 looks like a true piste/powder, all-mountain machine. Thoughts, anyone?

Could very well be. However, because of the stiffness (since it is a carving board) the 176 would be more versatile and the flotation would still be enough!

  2. Hey Alex I'm sure you wouldn't mind mailing me that Razor demo after SES for a week or so?!? :biggthump

Shipping from CO to NM is pretty cheap!!! ;)

I don't think it should be a problem. However since I will be in the US only for the duration of the SES, Sean will have to mail it to you.

  3. Brett,

You will find that you get much better edge pressure and control once you start riding flat on the board with no cants. It feels a bit strange at the beginning for people that used to ride with cants and lifts but at the end it actually makes sense. Riding wider boards its all about confidence. Once you obtain it you can really put your turns down.

Not that it can't be done with narrow boards, as many riders have proved, it is simply a matter of allowing relaxed bindings angles.

  4. I have 2 week old daughter, my first, and I can't wait to get her on the mountain. Most people suggest that the age of 3 is the best to start by I 've seen kids in Austria younger than 3 on skis. Which brings me to the next question. I also started late. I am 38 and have been snowboarding for almost 20 years and never been on skis. For a child is it better to start off on skis or snowboard?

I tend to think that skiing is better and especially for a child it develops the muscles and anatomy evenly. Later the child can decide which way to go.

  5. So the Razor will be on demo for SES 08? Oh my I may be coming after all!

That is the plan. Sean will make some razor demos in order to attract more softbooters to the SES or hardbooters on a deep powder day.

Stradas. The questions you need to ask yourself are these:

Am I worthy of the right equipment???? Who defines the right equipment? If I use the right equipment will I grow as a rider as well as a person within the community that I live in?:smashfrea

  6. I would like to thank everyone on their input last time that I posted a few ad ideas. This is the final ad that is going to be published. It will be mostly published in Greek magazines so although it is in english it had to be fairly easy to understand + the new board which was not included in the ads that I have posted.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!!!!!!! It is a great help for us.:ices_ange

  7. Hello to all, my name is George and I 'll be there to see what all this hype with hard boots and carving is all about...:)

I am coming from Greece to keep an eye on Alex and make sure he behaves...

Curently a soft booter, but for how long???

    C u on the mountain!!!

this guy is probably on my wifes payroll but after a week in Aspen he will probably be turned to the dark side!!!! (darth stradas will be his name).

  8. When hot waxing your board, do you use a specific iron or the one for clothes is good enough ?

You can use one of those old irons without the steam. You need to be very carefull though not to damage the base because of high temperature. If you use this kind of iron pay attention to the wax. As soon as you see the wax smoking lower the wax temp or let it cool down a bit.

The good thing about using a ski/snowboard specific iron is that the temperature will not rise above a certain temperature and you don't have to worry about things like that.

  9. Toxic? Not at all. The wax at sauna temperature does not evaporate. It melts. And it is allways nice to take a sauna along with your board. Talk about bonding with your equipment.

Actually maybe we can think of 10 reason why taking a sauna with your board is better than taking a sauna with your wife>:nono:

    1. The board does not complain about being neglected at the mountain.

    2. .....

    3. ...

  10. Unfortunately for all of us snowboarding is not a rocket science!! Any shape, any width and any flex distribution chances are: IT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE. And that is why leggaly no patent issue in terms of snowboard shape could exist (I did check it with a patent consultant just for the sake of it).

In terms of riding technique again chances are: Some guy in some mountain, somewhere around the globe has been eurocarving and linking turns. The existence of the term "eurocarving" proves it.

What the extremecarving crew did and they trully deserve a lot of credit and respect is establish it as a riding technique and promoted it succesfully around the world bringing more people in.

I dont really care if the shape has been around or not, or who copied who. The important question we have to ask instead of arguing is: Did they helped the industry and alpine snowboarding?

  11. The problem you have is probably a result of the base area close to the edge getting burned. That happens when the board is used for a long period of time without any wax on it. That can also happen when the iron during waxing works at a high temp.

basicaly the top layer of the base melts and the pores of the sintered base material dissapear. As a result the wax cannot be absorbed. The best you can do to repair the base is to take it for a stone grind. That will take off the top layer and bring the base back to working condition.

After the stone grind (which can only be performed 2 maximum 3 times in the boards lifespan) putting it in a hot box with a relatively soft wax would really help. If access to a hot box is not possible try to find someone with a sauna and stick your board in there. I mostly use sauna for my boards and it works great. The temperature is not hi enough to damage the board and the wax melts nicely and gets fully absorbed.

If you need more info just email me and I can give you more info about wax and waxing procedures.

    Good Luck
