Son went from size 10 to 12 over night and only could fit into the 29s for less than one season. Take a look at the pictures. I've got guy wanting to try on this weekend, but email me if you are interested just in case he cant fit the 29.

But anyway, I would try a couple of things to help with sensation of speed until you get comfortable . First, you being in Va (Nova?) you might want to touch base with the crew/coaches at Round Top in Pa, some of the best coaching in the east. You can hook up a private session and learn a lot. Second, haven’t heard about this yrs session, but the guys and girls in the mid Atlantic hook up once a yr or maybe every other and have clinics and races and just a good old time, so keep your eyes open for info. Third, no sure of your binding settings but think about backing them down to the low or mid 50s. Those angles might be a little more at home, then work your way back up to the steeper angles for carving. The last option would be to drop to a shorter board, at 170 you could get away with droping to upper 150s low 160 wo any trouble and slow the hole process down and be comfortable. However, your 167 would be a good starter size for carving at your size. If you choose to pick up a shorter ride, I have two boards that you might want to look at, first is a Burton Speed (prototype) 163. That speed is not listed on Bomber, I still like to rip that one on the steeper tighter runs. The second is a speed listed on Bomber, was looking for $100.00 shipped. I live in No. Va and depend your location could work out a deal w/o shipping for either board. A lot of good guys posting here with tons of experience, so I would be surprised if someone couldn’t help you out without too drastic of change.
