  1. Must reduce quiver/learn to ride one board! O'sin 4807 is Never ridden just tuned and waxed $200+shipping Nidecker is in great shape, bought from Jim, I rode it probably 5 times, a glorious 5 times! $150+shipping. PM for pictues
  2. What is the difference in ride sensation going to be like with spings and without? I ride a Niddecker tornado and just picked up a 4x4, and use deeluxe indies. They sound nice in theory to me but maybe I should continue to get my act together technique wise before making any changes...Thoughts? Oh yeah I ride in Tahoe so ice is rarely an issue, in fact find snow hard enough to really carve seems to have been an issue last season!
  3. I had my Deelux LeMans fit by a reputable boot fitter last year. They work just fine and i am pretty sure they are the right size 27.5and all , but after fitting one of my boot liners ended up with a rather large fold or wrinkle, and also seems to be the least comfortable boot. I would like to say they are comfortable but it would be a lie. I end up unbuckling them after every run, and snapping them closed at the top again, they feel really good to get off! According to the seller the liners should have one more fit in them, any thoughts? Oh yeah I chose to go with the budget insoles, medioum price not custom. I was also wondering is a wrinkle a mistake by the boot fitter or just my bad luck? Thanks guys can't wait for the snow, I got a pass this year and a flexible job too!
  4. Maximize time spent actually on the snow by tweaking set up visioning and building muscle memory. Plus I m so new and excited about this whole thing I just have to play more than I can be on the mountain, 5 hour drive and all.

Tips on stance from a previous post really helped! Tried it out on the carpet first. I am running 64 front and 60 rear at 19.5 wide 33 inch inseam. Feels like more angle could help roatate hips for deeper carves? It looks like I am reaching for the snow on FS, and rotating shoulders but not hips on BS. Any coaching would be appreciated. I had so much fun this day!
  6. Just read through your posts, OS2's are the only plates I have been on for the most part, excluding 3 hours on OS's my first day on an alpine set up racked with that nasty cold that just went around. I couldn't wait! Needless to say it wasn't much of a test ride. My OS2's are great. I now have the power of "search first."
  7. I am just curious what differences pro/con experienced riders are noticing after riding the new Cateks.
  8. Watching the Sharks Oilers game...tryin' the new Anchor Steam Bock..and 64 deg front, and 60 degree rear at 191/2. This feels like an attacking position. On the carpet at least...tried my old stance first and it felt like "no mans land" I was more tempted to try and push on the boot backs, and could't really feel the ankles involved. Hip down shoulders square pinching the right hand hip feels powerful and locked! Stoked for the advice...anyone need surf tips?
  9. For asking the question and the responses. I was trying to figure out the same thing...but I didn't know exactly what wasn't in place. It felt like more skidding than my toe edge, also my front leg seemed to be straightening out. From reading this thread I think I am "unwinding in the turn" Know I think I have some stuff to focus on, And I love the advice for the lay down living room training! Muscle memory before the snow=more fun on the snow. My fiancee already thinks I am obsessed, know she will have more proof as i go flailing arond on the carpet locked into my new favorite toy. Ill let you guys know how this stuff works for me. Cant't wait to try the touching the snow with both hands thing. I have a feeling that getting the hip to the snow feels about 1000 times better than the but, and it all feels extremly cool. Question? Hos does stance width affect the ease of learning this. I am 6'2" with a 33 in. inseam running 55 deg. front and rear at 19 5/8 in stance width 3 deg. front toe lift, and 3 deg. rear heel lift on a 173 Nidecker with 0s2's. Thanks!
  10. I just spent my second day, first real day really, on my new Alpine set up and I am in love with snowboarding all over again! Get your boots fit if they have thermo-fit style liners. As always boot comfort, no heel lift etc. is paramount. I would spend the money for some TD2's OR Catek OS2's I am your size and you don't want to be wondering mid turn 10 feet from a tree, "Is this binding gonna hold?" The steps in type are more convenient, check if your boots are compatible for the intec heels, but also consider that the standard heel bail type have more lateral (Noes to tail) flex built in to the design. AS for a board, I picked up a good used GS/Slalom board a 173 Nidecker Tornado 2002 I think! It feels perfect for learning. I can skid turns easily in traffic, narrow stuff, or too sttep for my ability stuff. But when I get it all lined up and lay it over it rewards the input with some good G's So my point...read up! Gear reviews, Welcome center, and you will be able to find a versastile, right size, somewhat forgiving hand me down carve/race board that can turn you on to the power of carving. Oh yeah I have been boarding for 20 years. I took the second snowbaord lesson of my life for my first 3 hours of carving, best time ever spent! Cleaned up my free riding, and I can self correct my carving, and ride and carve with confidence. Good Luck, Welcome aboard (pun intended) and See ya on a rail, not in the park though!
  11. for carving? May get a chance to head up there in the next few weeks, any info? Thanks!
  12. With the wood core, loved that board then they changed to Kevlar and they lost something. Learned on a Burton Elite 150? With the fins removed and the fastex lowbacks the season before, and rode Boreal when you had to get certified to ride Green circle, Blue square, or Black diamond.
  13. Thanks for all the help getting this together. Riding a Niddecker Tornado 173cm don't know the sidecut, but it feels perfect. Havent touched the top end, and it carves at the speed I was going. Got some Deelux LeMans and the new OS2s. Tried it all out at Squaw last weeknd in spring corn. I got some great tips from Kirk and carved some turns. Promtlly got sick for the rest of the week though, ended up fiddling with my bindings a bunch, feeling confident now with the Catek set up. Running 55 degrees front and rear with a near 20 inch stance. I am 6' 2" 200# with a 33 inch inseam. I didn't feel as akward as I had feared but man is it different letting the board turn and trusting it rather than puching the back foot out when any doubt arises. I love it. Thanks Zoltan for the great boots and Hugh for the board and binding loan until mine came. I love it!
  14. I used to ride with a Kemper boot that had a hard shell bottom half and a soft upper half, I loved them. The stiff sole was really responsive and reduced the strap pressure on my toes. It was also quite and upgrade from my sorels with ski boot liners, toe cut off and the toe of a sock ducktaped on to extend the too small boot liner. I also cut out a ski boot tongue and stoapped that onto my boot tops to increase stiffnes and even out the pressure (I have always cranked my straps in search of more response, feet totally asleep etc. and cold!) "Back in the Day" I learned on a boyscout ski trip on a Burton 150 with fastex stapped low backs, we had cruddy equipment, but I swear we would honk and wave if we saw boards on a car and hoot other riders if we saw one! I am glad to be getting into hardboots finally after 20 years My LeMans arrive today and Im up to Squaw on Saturday. Thanks for selling the boots Zoltan and Hugh is loaning me some Cateks until mine get here on tuesday and selling me a Tornado. The carving community reminds me of the old days, Thanks everyone! :o
  15. Looks like I will be riding some Deelux LeMans with new Catek os2's on a Nideker tornado by next wknd. Stoked!
