  1. I've been able to slow it down by carving but it will not work for a sudden stop. It takes some patience, confidence, and control but it's possible to slow it down from 30 mph. I've stopped it a few times sliding it perpendicular to my momentum. I can't remember, is that still called a shred?

Another negative with the T-board I forgot about, I have pinched the wheel against the board twice. It threw me over the top like if you folded the nose of your snowboard.

  2. Durf Said,

When Jack starts swearing and people are saying the mods are bad, it makes me feel like the forum is on the verge of collapsing...

LOL, verge of collapsing! That's one of the funniest, most absurd statement I have seen on the form over the years.

  3. I would recommend the indy rubber tires for the hard carving on the steep hills. I am ordering a stiffer bushing since I'm a little heaver than most and definitely get the longer board because you can still make SL turns even though it says it's got a GS feel.

The feeling of the ride on the indy tires is very cool. It's such a smooth, quiet ride while cruising down the streets.

  4. I have? remind me....

At the WTC in Park City last year. I had her with me a couple times hanging out in the car. I brought her out to play when I was eating lunch or hanging out.

  5. I brought my monster with me when I moved here from South Africa. He's supposed to be a pure blood. However, the breader might have introduced a bit of Great Dane i the past, to boost the size - my beast moves the scales at whooping 110 lb, and stands an inch taller than bread's upper standard...

Larger size= more dog to love.

Does he have the ridge? I can't tell. Soleil doesn't have it. You can see a change in the hair but she most likely has a little Labrador in her, giving her the webbed toes. She'll swim for hours if I let her.

Super friendly dog, right Michelle. She's played with her before.

  6. I have the T-board too and I like it. Super smooth, quite ride at high speeds that feels very much like snowboarding. It helps to develop technique and keeps you fresh with muscle memory.

The only beef I have with the board is that it took four days of aggressive carving on a 6% grade to wear out my indy rubber tires. I am a heavy guy though so I was throwing a lot of rubber, it stuck to the bottom of the board.

I also cracked the bushing that came with it but I want to get the stiffer one anyway.

  7. Boris,

I was going to ask if that was a Ridgeback/ Ridgeback mix. That's what I have. She's super loyal and very fun.

A lot of shelter dogs are the best dogs you'd ever want to meet. We got Ullr from a shelter, and he was semi-trained (sit)

I adopted my Soleil from the Humane Society and she's been a great dog. Some shelter/pound dogs are already trained and been through strict tests to let the public know whether the dog is house broken, good with cats/dogs, and good with kids.

  8. Jeff,

Most of your boards are in the 150's to 170ish range, right? You would have no problem carving at almost all the Utah resorts. The guys mention Park City and Basin a lot because there are many of us that like to ride GS or bigger boards. E-mail Dave Tillie from Hardbooter.com if you want to demo some stuff or just get together with some of the PC crew.

  9. For snowshoes, like my MSR lightning Acents but I have been thinking about approach skis because they do float better for longer tours. MSR was trying to design their shoes for better traversing traction (I believe they traverse better than any other snowshoe) but at the same time you will sacrifice some float since they are narrower.

  10. the funniest thing about meeting new people is that sometimes it is difficult to associate their riding with the initial impression that they leave.

You said it right but you don't know me too.

what internet image? dude, most of the guys here already think i'm an idiot and an ornery witch. so what is there to preserve?

I don't know but maybe there is a reason they think of you like that.

So I made a mistake, you still went ballistic. I know you are an instructor in western NY but your first response was so filled with anger I thought it would be fun to toy with you and see what happened.

Both bob and tex spend too much time on the internet and need some entertainment and gleb's feelings might get hurt if the flames continue.

BTW- Toe-side switch is the same movement as non-switch, just reversed. :1luvu:

  11. Wait, hold on. I think I'll just give that cheap shot back to you.

the instructor/i love snowboarding and want to help people figure out how to ride better, in me just wanted...

I couldn't figure out what you were trying to say there until I realize the / should be a , in that line.

You're an instructor? You're just figuring that out with switch riding?

  12. wow eddie, where was that question within my post?

the instructor/i love snowboarding and want to help people figure out how to ride better, in me just wanted to share an observation. watch people ride, and you may notice that many folks are not as dynamic of riders when they ride switch as they are when they ride in their normal direction, regardless of the gear that they are on.

i never questionned how to make a toe-side turn, so why are you directing that advice towards me? some advice i should take myself is to exercise caution in giving unsolicited advice.

Whatever... It sounds like I have belittled you and your snowboarding skills from that response, oh well. Keep feeling angry. I would have said sorry about that but since you want to try hard to make me look like an idiot so your internet image is not tainted, that's fine by me.
