wavechaser
Info from Antrim RD Brian Beihl...do not miss this race!! The Race for the Old Gold Jug is going downhill; in fact, we're going downhill fast! This year's race in Antrim, New Hampshire USA adds a 100 cone tight slalom on Friday afternoon to make our event a three-day event. The race now includes the TS, the main event Hybrid on Saturday, and the Giant Slalom on Sunday. We're anticipating a "main" status by the ISSA Sanctioning board, and have changed the name of the event to the Antrim CAN/AM Slalom Championships in honor of the fantastic participation of Canadian racers. Details are below. Antrim CAN/AM Slalom Championships (formerly the Race for the Old Gold Jug) September 19-21, 2008, Antrim, New Hampshire USA part of Antrim Home & Harvest Festival One of the premier events on the East Coast -- As of March 10, 51 racers from the US & Canada had already signed up, most of them repeat racers because they had such a great time! Parade (racers included in it), fireworks, BBQ, festival, music and more. Bring the family. Closed course for Friday's 100 cone Tight Slalom, the Saturday main event 50 cone Hybrid, and the Sunday Giant Slalom. See details on the hill and the event at our points of contact: Official Website: http://www.skateboardslalom.com Registration at NCDSA: http://www.ncdsa.com/contest_registr...tID=351#signup Chat about the race at: http://www.slalomskateboarder.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=5875 Thanks for the support! gburgess
W. You can see the status change to Main is bringing in some bigger names from further distances. The event is in about 5.5 months and it's packed already.
wavechaser
Yup, Brian has done a terrific job...and besides the "main" status, the word has gotten around about the riding surface on that hill...it's like the Woodstock of pavement - no bands, but freaks from all over coming to MECCA! You're darn right it's worth it - this will be the biggest, most talented collection of slalom racers ever seen in the Northeast.
Gleb
yeah those timed exams can be a bit rough. My only goal is to be in the top of the bottom of my class. Thats how to do it, aim low...but i guess you can look high while doing it. Not really sure exactly what its supposed to mean, but I think i saw it on a shirt one time. Yesterday me, ken and willy set up some cones at the Arboretum and now I'm feeling pretty good. Don't get to run cones too often, but every time I do, I notice a vast improvement. Also, I'm on a 10 person waiting list for the sign up, and Brian said they're probably going to let everyone race. So still not too late to sign up! And...you may never hit against Papelbon, or play one-on-one with Paul Pierce, but you CAN race against Jason Mitchell, David Pirnack, Lynn Kramer and their fellow champs! willywhit
thanks Gleb, that's a pretty impressive list right thar. Psyched Ken got on the program. My left knee is pretty tweaked, swollen up like a grapefruit or I woulda been there. Pics are great, there's gotta be tons more somewhere. Video ! way to get after it, son
Gleb
ya, you would've had a good time. Hope the knee feels better soon. None of my vids really came out too great since the digital camera can't refocus while recording. Half the run will be in focus, the rest is a blur. I'm sure there'll be plenty up soon.
