biggerwrangler
I go sick and tired of the where is are you question when we would go ride in the trees, and the what did you say, i am sorry my radio was on. solves wasted time waiting for freinds that aimlessly wander. OK so here it is and it works almost flawlessly, mike may freeze if you spit when you talk. a helmet with push to talk and a mute button that are big enough for mittens, should work with and soft shell flap. we had to giro helmets with skullcandy aka speakers in the flaps. purchased the K2 acs system... http://store.hermitshut.com/k2baselineacs.html took apart the flaps from the skull candy... use a seem ripper and take you time. do the same for the acs system, becareful of the mike and cords as you don't want to damage them. once apart see if the plastic inserts fit in the ace flaps, if not cut them down a little at a time. you want them to be as close to the top of the flap with out impeading the connection. Important orthwise it will leave a gap for wind and may be to far down on the cheek. once you are sure it will fit take them to a show repair shop or cobbler. I used midwest cobblers centennial co. did great on the first one, had to redo the second one. tell them to use glue to help keep it together, and to make sure the sew over the cord Not through it. http://store.hermitshut.com/k2baselineacs.html cost of the acs system each one is about 50 and the cobbler should be about 20. for a total of 70 for each helmet. Total worth it, great for keeping track of freinds or letting the group know of powder spots. May be good for coaching as well. one draw back people on the chair may think you are crazy or talking to them. this is where i got the idea, however it looked a little hokie http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-Ski-Helmet-walkie-talkie-%22ACS%22/ actually test was with a nano, and motorala walkie. speakers don't pull excessive battery either. it does make the helmet fit around the face a little tighter, but that helps you hear as well.
