  1. Just a friendly note here. These should come with the longer bolts. The standard bolts from the

TD2 are purely too short. One would assume that if you do not get new bolts with a new item, you do not need to change. luckily i am still walking upright. One turn in today and heel mount blows out. I did have the new red heel piece flush down to the new heel piece. The ridges on the bottom of the red mounting bar were not raised too high. The berserker II review will have to wait.

    Thanks

    k:)

  2. HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO JOIN THE ADDICTION. VERY SLIGHTLY USED GREAT CONDITION BOARD. LOTS OF LIFE IN THIS ONE. I HAVE A NEW ONE ON THE WAY AND NEED TO MAKE ROOM OR I WOULD NOT SELL IT! PICTURES DON'T DO IT JUSTICE. THE COLORS ON THE BOARD CHANGE WITH DIFFERENT ANGLES OF LIGHT. SUPER COOL! $650 AND IT IS YOURS.

    THANKS

  3. audio is just a bad comparison though, audio is probably the one industry other than homeopathy that has the most snake oil salesmen. funny you bring up cables that's one of the biggest bull**** markets in audio. here's a link http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/10-01-06#feature both popular mechanics and popular science have tackled this as well as consumer reports all say the same thing, after a certain point in audio it's mostly BS. these really high end companies get busted all the time for putting other brands of good but much cheaper legit equipment putting it in their housing and quadrupling the price. these things don't really happen in the alpine industry.

here's a example of some more audiophile ****ery http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/transports/high-definition-dvd-players-hd-dvd-blu-ray/lexicon-bd-30-blu-ray-oppo-clone/oppo-inside-lexicon-outside-1

Hey Bob....read my comment again. The thrust of my point was not alpine. My point is that these stupid threads get started bashing something because a perceived cost vs. worth argument. I never get hung up on what my neighbor has in his wallet or what he spends his money on. If you are buying a 46k level of speaker(my example B & W), you are not putting that in dorm room. It most likely is going into a home theater type set up. To argue that all audio companies put "basically" the same guts into their "boxes" is defying reality. At that level of equipment you are not talking about bobs stereo center. Research my example before dropping vague generalities. Material used counts just like everything else including alpine.

  4. $45k for the speakers may well be just the tip of the iceberg!!! From my perspective this is an OBSCENE use of resources. :barf:

In terms of actual audio enjoyment per dollar spent... I don't think this kind of cost can be justified (unless the setting is worthwhile and really requires it). IMHO this speaker set's benefit is snobbery and self-agrandizement. I guess I've seen too many flooded homes being bulldozed, flooded businesses boarded up and too many bread-winners layed off because of the economy.

edit: My comments above were actually off target as they were not really connected to the costs of alpine riding. To have some perspective... what is the cost of some 'decent' speakers? (I have no idea what is current or what power is required or how many separate boxes are needed ... but let's say $2k... not high end dedicated huge home theater). this yeilds a 22.5 : 1 differential. A high end board runs what... $2k and a nice used board can be had for $200 which yeilds a 10 : 1 differential. And so, it seems the $2k snowboard is only about 1/2 as ridiculous $45k speakers. HOWEVER, I think the snowboard price difference does represent a tangible performance benefit and may be worthwhile as opposed to $45k speakers for people who cannot really hear. YMMV

Being somewhat of a audiophile, a Bowers and Wilkins 45 thousand dollar speaker is beyond amazing to listen to. I don't know what the speaker model or type was but to chalk up a high price with miss use of resources is just absurd. The type of wire used and the equipment used to transfer the audio source makes a difference. To try to compare a bose system to something of this caliber is a joke at the start. It sounds to me that if you can't afford something you must bag on the ones who can or the item itself. Is a season pass at aspen overpriced? Only the people who pay for it could say. I don't know if anyone lives in a yurt, wipes with leaves, rides a bike to work year round, has solar panels all over the yard, or has a wind mill on the roof. But buying this dopey class warfare is completely LAME!!!!

  5. That type of break looks like it was caused by the inserts pulling up through the core and then ripping the top off. This is usually a recipe for disappointment in the long run as the wood will only take so much. Its a very good time saver to do it that way but it does not hold up in the long run with stiff bindings.

I am totally unaware of how that board was built but opening it up would give you some idea as to whats up. Its just a combination of the small things that usually add up to failure and eliminating as many of them as possible is the best cure.

:argue: these threads featuring Virus seem to ALWAYS revolve around... Are they worth it? Who would pay that much? Why would you use that material? Some fluke situation happens and the haters jump to these lame questions. If there is a true problem with the manufacturing process then that is one thing but this strikes me as another lame bash session. Even the title provokes animosity. Cirus had every right to quip back with his sarcasm.

  6. I destroyed the Team Tantalus 175!! It happened during normal carving. No crashes, no improper setup, bindings were tight, No user mistakes. I do ride pretty hard but it should not matter!!

Would this statement not conclude that the product is in some way is inferior? Just one opinion. The board maker is not a relevant point, this could apply to any board maker. The dig was implied.

I remember all the back and forth regarding the law suit with bomber. I take this sport as with any sport as a risk. S----happens with used equipment. If this was a new board I would consider the story. Maybe the author did not imply the dig but it stands as I read it.

  7. I just bought a used ford with a huge lift kit from a teenager. It turns out the engine is shot. Man that FORD company really builds a SH^&y automobile. It has 100k + miles, I wonder if they will replace it?.......HMMMM

    Give me a figgin break!

  8. The day was great! The snow good until 11:am. :( I'm not sure who does the grooming, but on a weekend day with two lifts running, you would think that the main runs would be fully groomed. They slack on main areas but they groom every square centimeter of those parks. Just a little frustrating.:barf:

There was another hardbooter there riding a prior metal. So two of us unicorns. I had a kid in the lift line commenting behind me "hey look...OLD SCHOOL". I guess a Virus phantom is old technology.?? He also asked "can you do a method air on that thing?" I responded "can you drad a hip on that?" HE looked confused but then I said if you wanted to you probably could. :biggthump
