  1. If you ever carve on your softies you need this!

    Figured I would review the Bomber power plate as there are no reviews yet. The plate uses the standard TD3 disks and bumpers with the TD2/3 cants. Fin continues his high quality milling and finish with the plate. The first thing I noticed was how the system enables a softbooter to have a huge variety of stance options. One is no longer stuck with small adjustments in one direction. Between how you set the disks followed by how you set your bindings on the plate it significantly increases the ability to tweak your stance front to back and edge to edge.

    Once riding the system definitely makes a difference. The board set an edge faster and is less likely to be effected by snow conditions. Being elevated off the board also limits toe/heel drag and enables one to dig "trench digger" like trenches. The board rides smoother overall and with greater edge control. In the powder I found the system to be responsive and smooth and other than being a little heavier than without I had no issues with occasional jumps and freestyle moves.

    I look forward to continued experiences, and I'm stoked by how it changes what I can do on my softies. If you would enjoy having more control free-riding and/or carving on a soft boot setup this system is a no-brainer.

    For those interested my setup is a Prior MFR 169, Burton Prophecy bindings, Burton Driver X boots, and Bomber power plate system 0 degree cants and blue e-ring. When hardbooting I ride a WCR 185 and TD2s.

    Don't wait. Order them now, so you are not stuck waiting for the next batch to be made.

    Thanks. Yes, it was 2/8 and there was lots of wind affected snow. I just happened to be in deep powder in the trees and there was a channel where the wind scoured the snow to rough ice. Hit the ice, then hit the tree. Looks like there is another 10" at meadows today. Oh, well.

  3. I am almost beyond my ability to deal. Another 10 inches of fresh this morning at MHM. On February 8th if finally started snowing on Mount Hood again. I was having a spectacular day of powder fun at Meadows until I hit that wind blown ice, lost my edge and smacked a tree. Complete rupture of my left achilles tendon. Then it kept raining in Portland and snowing and snowing on the mountain. In 6 more weeks hopefully I will be walking again. Pretty sick of life on crutches, but happy it was not my head/neck etc. To all the other wounded out there- I feel for you.

  4. I may have missed something along the way. I recently spoke with a reputable board manufacture sales person. During a discussion about board length he cared most about my height. Other than when you are a beginner how in the world does height equate to board length? I definitely understand how weight may relate to board length, but height? Thanks.

  5. It wasn't bad at all.

    Mt hood express got all f*d up because they had the maze with the singles entering half way down. Many 3 people chairs. At about 10:15 express had a full maze with the singles line outside the maze and I headed to SS which was empty. At about 11:30 SS was full so I headed back to MH express which was at 1/2 maze.

    I was still finding fresh powder under lower cascade at 1:30. Overall a great opening day. It looks like it is snowing pretty good up there right now. Probably heading up again on Tuesday.

    We will see how much you love your hardboot setup if you ever get out to the Pacific NW on a big powda day!

    I love the control of hardboots and ripping carves, but soft boots are all about riding a little loose. Not the greatest carving setup, especially if you have toe or heel drag, but on a big pow day you can go all day without fighting your acid filled legs.

  8. It is too much board for you, can I buy it? Seriously, I am not so sure that is the best board for the east (I learned to ride too many years ago at Bershire Ice/East). In regards to Caddy or Race car I would call it a Caddy CTS-V for powder. I ride it (168) with softies and use it primarily as a powder board. I have a perma-grin all day riding it, unbelievable. I have friends dying in the pow and that thing floats with crazy responsiveness. By far the best all mountain/pow board I have ridden. It carves well, but is not necessarily built for carving. I have never put plates on it, and I think it may ride too soft for me with plates (250lbs). If you are looking for a board to ride plates on that is an all mountain board I would suggest the 4x4/4WD or the ATV. I ride a 4WD with plates in the preseason until our base gets near 100". If you do decide you do not want to keep it I have a friend who is constantly trying to steel my deck so I would have a definite buyer for you. RSN 4EVA!!
