There is a thread about this over at snowboardseattle.com. Rather than repeat what I said there, I'll just give a link and suggest you read my reply from this evening. http://www.snowboardseattle.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1787 Basically, it's very important to remember that different kinds of snow pack up differently... you’ll never extract yourself in 8 seconds when the snow packs up like concrete. Be safe out there…

I'm a big fan of a longer sidecut on a board for really steep terrain. My personal freeride reference shape is a 168 with a 24.8 waist and 11m sidecut with an effective edge of 136cm. I really feel like this gives me excellent edge hold on the steeps when it gets nasty. (I ride in the PNW too, so I share your pain :)) If you can find a splitboard with a sidecut radius up in that range in the length you're after then I'd think you'd be pretty happy. I'd offer to make you one, but I don't build splitboards yet...

Here are some pics of the boots. You can see that they're in excellent condition, with only minor scuffs on the toes.

I have a pair of Burton Wind boots for sale. Size is 28 mondo. These are brand new. I rode on them two days, but they were too small for my size 10.5us foot. I bought them on sale years ago (maybe 2000 or so??) so I couldn't return them. I ended up finding a pair of AF600's that fit me great, so these have sat in a closet ever since. Original liners, but no footbeds (don't know where they went.) These boots barely have a scratch on them.
$100us plus shipping. Email me: mikemag at happymonkeysnowboards dot com and I'll send you pictures.

D-Sub: yup, I’m Happy Monkey Snowboards. I’m working on alpine prototypes this season and I’ll be sure to post if I come up with something I like.
