  2. YES! Many thanks to Mark for putting this together. Had an absolute blast. The Beast is quickly becoming one of my favorite ski hills for a great combination of terrain, accessibility and vibe. And dollar Schaefers. I'm pretty sure I hadn't been night skiing since high school, and Saturday night was quiet, snowy, soft lighting on the slopes... magical.

Getting on a hard boot setup was much more challenging than I thought- humbling, actually. But very enjoyable and I will be back soon.

Great to meet all you guys and gals. Some seriously smooth riders out there. Was awesome to see a half dozen riders flying down Exhibition at a time. Definitely not something we see enough of on the mountains these days.

Thanks again Mark, we will be in touch.

  3. Scrapster, where do you ride? I was up in Pittsfield / Jiminy over Christmas...

Have you ridden this board? What's it like? Stiffness, etc.? Any idea when it was made? Soft boots?

I'm interested... been looking for a new deck for awhile, something to go fast on Northeast hardpack. Maybe this is it? Maybe there's a chance we'll be riding at the same place sometime soon. You riding on New Year's day?

Feel free to continue conversation via PM.

  4. Huh, I guess nowhere in my post did I include the model and size... what a dummy. It's a Levitation 171. The colors look a bit faded in the photo, and might be a little faded in real life. It does say Microcell core... this softens up pretty quick? Still has good camber on the hardwood floor, we'll see how it holds up.

  5. Hello BomberOnline!

I've been reading these forums for a couple weeks and figured I'd introduce myself. Like many of you, I've been riding since the days of sorels and highwraps and "what do you call that?"

I've always ridden soft setups in the 60 - 65 range, but reading up on here has given me GAS to try some different stuff out- to collect twenty boards and take over two walls of the living room. Yesterday I picked up this oldie (Levitation 171) off CL that has never had bindings on it. I'll give it a go tomorrow with the soft setup, and possibly put hardboots on it down the road.

The absolute best thing about this place has been looking at old rides and bringing back memories of the late 80s and 90s (my first 'real' snowboard was a Kemper Rampage 150 - I might have to buy this - http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-KEMPER-RAMPAGE-SNOWBOARD-/220920270363#ht_500wt_1413). It's amazing how quickly things were changing back then. Now it seems there isn't much difference between decks from year to year, although I suppose the materials are fancier, the shapes are largely the same. This Rossi is surprisingly light - anyone know what year it's from?

    Thanks.
