Thank you all for the opinions and suggestions. I plan on trying the Lotus out next weekend, hopefully I will know right away if the rocker is for me. If not I'll take a look into all of the boards you have suggested. Snowboard shopping in a rush is not an easy task. The girl in me wishes it was more like dress shopping - try a bunch on in one day and pick the one that fits the best. :)
I'll let you all know how the demo goes. Thanks again!

Mike,
Thank you very much for the suggestions. If things do not work out with the Lotus I will absolutely look into Coiler and Donek. Although I do not know if I'm at the level to be customizing my own board. Maybe someday soon.
Steph,
That's wonderful to hear you've already rocked the Lotus and would recommend it! I'm going to do my best to demo the board before I commit (I think Out of Bounds demos the 154). I'm really happy to hear it was holding its turns well - would you recommend putting a bevel on the edge right away? How did you find the transition between turns? I have the feeling it's going to have more of a surfing feel versus that pop and I'm afraid I'm going to miss popping out of my turns.
Lets make a date to ride together this year - I'd love to watch and learn from you!

Hey Everyone!
I was hoping I could get some opinions on rocker technology for a soft set up from some more experienced carvers. I'm a pretty average hardbooter but am looking to dial in my carving on a soft setup this season. I've been recommended the Never Summer 157 Lotus but I'm second guessing the board's rocker. Any opinions or alternative board suggestions would be wonderful.
Thanks!

You ride without pants?!? ;) You must be getting lots of date proposals...
Haha, no date proposals on the mountain since I was 18. . but I'm sure the no pant thing would do the trick.

In addition to my pink pants, I also have a hot pink snowboard. Thanks Bruce
(disclaimer: I'm not really obsessed with pink. I got the pink pants at a second hand sports store and they have taken on a life of their own!!!)
Hot Pink is totally the way to go. I always have something hot pink on when I ride . socks, hat . . . Love the pants, wish I had a pair!

I'm so jealous of you guys with weekdays free!
I'm thinking of being back at Stratton on Sunday 1/23. TBD whether i can make it up for the whole weekend yet, in which case I would ride Friday and Saturday too. Will be in touch for sure when my plans are final.
Michelle and Angie, look forward to seeing you at SES!
Lisa
I would gladly give up any of my free weekdays to go to SES :)
Have fun out there this year girls! Maybe next year for me.

It's great to see this thread revived! I would guess that a ladies day is in order. I would love to ride w/any of you ladies that want to come to Stratton.
It looks like I've got Fridays & Sundays off this winter. Do one of these days work well for anyone??? Let me know what you're all thinking and I'll see what I can do.
I'm already looking forward to this!
Hey Steph, I would love to ride with you any Friday this season. I was hoping to find someone to get out with on a weekday when the hills are less crowded. Hopefully I'll be able to keep up :)

We should try for the weekend before or after MLK weekend, let me know if one of those works. We just need to pick a place - I usually ride at Stratton. Maybe Steph and AMK can make it one of those weekends...ladies?
Unfortunately, we're hosting a party at our house on Saturday the 15th but I could always day trip up on Sunday the 17th. The weekend after MLK is wide open for me. Hopefully the hills won't be too crowded, I've hear there's areas of Stratton that stay pretty empty so if that's true Stratton could be a good choice.

Hey Elisa! I can think of at least four of us in the NY/CT/VT area. It would be great to get together one weekend for a ladies session! Maybe sometime after the holidays?
Sounds great! I'm completely flexible with dates and mountains so whatever works for you girls after the Holidays will work for me.

Hi Girls!
I missed out on the Ladies Day Out back in 2005 and I'm finally really trying to get back into the sport.
Would absolutely love a chance to learn from some girls this season!
I'm in CT so I'd be happy to meet up at any East Coast Mountain.

Had a big leap myself this past weekend and I owe it all to 2 wonderful guys tweaking my bindings just a bit.
For the first time I was able experience what a heelside carve is supposed to feel like.
Now it's time to gradually work on nailing it!

Stomp pads for maintaining my balance of the chairlift??? No way!? I thought that's what the skier/stranger sitting on either side of me was for.

I'll be at Stratton this weekend, too. I'm bringing my board, but there's a chance I'll be on skiis, too. If you see a guy on a Volkl carving with another guy on a Donek, say hello.
I'll keep an eye out for you. I've actually had good luck running into carvers up at Stratton. I ran into a guy up there on December 30th but I was on my regular snowboard so I didn't bother following him for a run. :(

Allee, that was nice of you to mention Shaggy and Cheri. I actually had the pleasure of meeting and skateboarding with them over the summer. Cheri is just great and was fun to be with for the day.

Elisa, You have an open invite to come to Mt Snow for the weekend free clinic. Since weekends are too crowded to ride too fast, it's a great time to help out inspired carvers.Personally, I'm married to a hot Brasilian but alot of my ski buddies are unattached.Isn't skiing really about hot tubs, red wine, stinky cheese and platonic relationships ? Remember the old T shirt: " Just because I slept with you doesn't mean I have to ski with you" ??? ??? Now, I just carve til it hurts, hot tub, beeeers and some blissful snoring....and wishing I was in Tahoe again...with a snorkel.
I just might have to take you up on that weekend clinic, I never get to ride with other carvers. I tried catching up with a few up at Mt. Snow about two Sundays ago but I was on the lift and they went the other way. As for this weekend my boyfriend is dragging me up to Stratton so sadly I'll probably be on skiis :( (Is that wrong?)

I'm always up for exploring new slopes. If you can lay down a carve that impresses me I promise I'll drop a pick up line or two to help you be more prepared for future girls that search you out on the slopes.

I have to agree. This chick needs some pointers but Wednesday nights are killers in my weekly schedule. Now weekends at Stratton or Mt. Snow that would be nice; blue eyes, blond hair, and, believe it or not, can carry on a decent conversation any takers? lol

Hey Ladies, Hope the snow is treating you well so far this weekend. I'm planning on heading up Sunday morning but lost my e-mail indicating when and where we'll be meeting that morning. If anyone has info on this drop me one. See ya'll soon!

I've been fighting mono for the last month or so and it did a number on my spleen and liver. The doctors said no contact sports so I've been bored out of my mind lately.

I feel for you on the sleen issue I'm out till the end of X-mas because of mine. :(
-
Oh. . .so that's why I always get taken out by crazy guys on boards in the lift line? ;) j.k.

I'm loving this idea. I would really be up for any hill on the East Coast including those western New York hot spots. The only problem that I have is that I'm still a youngin' and have classes during the week. As for Canada I'm game. I'll be at Blue Mountain the week after Christmas.
About that code . . .anyone else speak French?
-
Well, I'm on the East Coast and would be up for any New England mountain, Okemo is always fun. I've only alpined with 2 other girls since I've started and I must say I improved more in one day with them than I have with any of the guys I've riden with.
Always up for a girls day out on the hills.

Any New Englanders from the Burlington area? I'll be going to school up there next winter and would love to get an idea if there's a good carving scene up there.
Rocker Technology Review
in Carving Central

Update:
I was always a true believer in “It’s all about the Indian and not the Arrow”. Holy Crap was I wrong!
One run on my new Lotus and I was amazed at how much I was being held back by my equipment my whole life. By the end of the day I was confidently digging faster and deeper turns because the board was actually holding my speed through them . . . unheard of. And all I had to do was think about making a turn and the board would initiate it. I had also been worried about losing the playful pops out of turns and I am excited to report that even with the rocker I could still make that happen.
And here’s the weirdest thing of all. . . now that I’ve found a board I am compatible with I am finally figuring out where my shoulders should be. I can’t wait to take this enlightenment and apply it to my hardbooting.
Yay Rocker!
