    Hi everyone!

    I have a great Nidecker Tornado 161 for sale. I'm in my second year of carving and got this board as a "starter" not knowing that it's really made for a guy around 5'10" and 210lbs (or so my teacher Jon Gilmore told me) and since I'm 5'6" and 118lbs and a girlt wasn't working for me! :smashfrea That said, I only rode it twice and while I didn't have the best control, I could tell that the sides really cut into the snow and someone could really have some fun ripping it up out there! I purchased this board from a guy (king crimson?) who was the original owner and took really good care of it. Only sign of damage is a shadow of the bumpers on the top sheet. It will need a waxing, but other than that it's good to go! I paid $200 so thats what I'm asking.

    Hey there,

    I have a Nidecker Tornado 161 that's supposed to be perfect for someone 5' 10", 220 lbs. size 10 foot (or so my instructor John Gilmore told me) Nideckers are stiff so it'd be good for aggressive riding. It's in great shape as I only rode it twice before I learning how inappropriate it was for me (just starting out) and the guy who had it before me took REALLY good care of it. I'm gonna post it soon, but thought I'd let you know first as it sounds like it might work for you. I'm asking $200. I can post pics or send them to you if you are interested.

    Well as much as I love this board, I'll have to pass... the 21cm waist is too wide for my taste at this time, and while I'd love to add a 4x4 to my quiver, I just can't swing it right now:( I hope it goes to a loving home!:ices_ange

    Hey everyone!

    I had so much fun this weekend! I so enjoyed meeting y'all and I really appreciated all the help and support you gave me as a first time carver! I look forward to seeing the footage Arclight puts together of everyone as it's going to be a while till I get back up to the snow and it'll tide me over till next season:(

    Thanks two_ravens,

    I'm heading up to June Mt. tomorrow for our So.Cal version of SES so I'll have a chance to experiment more with my board. What you said makes alot of sense, I think I need to take a few more turns to figure out what it is I'm doing--couldn't really tell you right now. I have taken a lesson that was very helpful, but your suggestion to video myself is a good idea. I'll email you more after the weekend with what I've learned. The "tech-y talk" is making more and more sense to me as I go...

    Hi there!

    I am really enjoying your posts as I am a first season rider (and a girl) and I agree that it is hard to find info and gear that is for the lighter female rider! I'm riding a custom Hot blast 160 with a 17cm waist and a longer side-cut(11?) it was Stacia Hokam's board in the 90's...

    I love this board but as I'm just starting out, I am finding that my heelside turns are chattering out more often than not. You mention it here in your post--is that because I'm trying to do too tight a carve? Why am I chattering out on my heelside? Any experience you're willing to share would be much appreciated! I'm reading the rest of your posts...

    Are any girls going to ride this year? I plan to ride on Saturday. Not sure about Sunday. I may ride over at Mammoth. Depends on if I come up Thur night.

    So, I made it up to June this weekend--VERY warm up there. The melt froze overnight--leaving pure ice Sunday morning :eek: It didn't soften up till about 11am! But once it did I was able to practice my heel turns on the nice wide open slopes of Silverado--pure bliss! By the end of the day I was able to link some turns! Yay! I love my new board:1luvu: we are getting along very well.

    Thanks to John, my carving abilities have made huge strides! Thanks John!

    Great day at summit today with John. The weather was perfect and the snow was excellent! On the drive up John primed my brain for the task ahead, so when we got there, within 15 min. I was doing a perfect toe edge carve! Oh what a feeling!:1luvu: The rest of the morning was spent practicing (I have homework) then we moved on to the heel edge--I was wiped out and my back side was damp from all the sitting down(forgot what that was like) but the point is I know what to do/practice. Turns out my board is holding me back (to wide and stiff) but John helped find one for sale that would be perfect! My favorite quote of the day from John:

    "Thing is, your board is taking YOU for a ride, not the other way around. You're telling it "Do this--" and it's saying "F**k you.."

    He gets to the point that John--and I'm still LOL:lol:

    My legs are sore--but in a good way--and I can't wait to get up to the slopes again!

    I highly recommend John as an instructor and a boarding buddy--he's awesome!:biggthump

    Hi Folks!

    Thought I'd chip in here as I too am going up to snow summit tomorrow with Mr. Gilmore for my first lesson! It's my first season in hardboots--out two days so far and struggling...I'm hoping John can get me started with good habits--I'll let y'all know how it goes in case there is another carving neophyte looking to know more about making the switch!:D
