Hey Dan, how is that new coiler treating you? This camp sounded awesome.
It is great, much easier to ride than the 4WD. It hides all my mistakes, but the camp helped fix some of those. Looking forward to next time I am on snow.
Higher angles will be needed!

4th day of carving camp (I had to take the 3rd day off for my daughter's birthday).
Sunshine was out, but it rained lower down yesterday and made it hard and fast.
I only made it until 1:30 and my legs were done. Others had to catch planes and we all had a great time.
The new Coiler definitely got a workout!

2nd day of carving camp....all of our legs and knees are sore.
Snow was perfect, our technique not quite.

1st day of carving camp with Mike Jacoby, Doug, Tom, Chris, and myself.
Snow was great and we learned lots on this day.

Mike made it up for the weekend and made some turns with his son filming. Snow is great so far this year.

We just finished out last day today (I only had 3) and we are all tired and better riders for it.
Mike is an amazing teacher and he makes everything look so effortless.

You could always build footbeds that are built up in the middle of the foot, which would effectively shorten the overall length of your foot when on them.
However, this would be extremely uncomfortable and I doubt you could be in them very long.
Why do you want to downsize anyway?

Any chance you know what sizes share the same shell in that size? Is it 26/26.5 or 26/26.5/27 etc.?
I am pretty sure they numbers on the heels are 5.5/6/6/5

I have 26.5 feet and used 26.0 liners last year. This year I got 26.5 liners and I am a bit happier.
There is no way I could go down to 25.0 without a lot of pain...that and I would never get the buckles done up.

Does anybody (Bora) have the desire to organize a 2 day mini-event during the dates I had mentioned?
I do not have time to organize anything, but will be there if there are others around.

December 3
Runs were well groomed, with hard packed icy snow. Today was 50% off lift passes so I went early to beat the crowds.
Today was also the first day with my new liners and Coiler AMT 168. I only made 4 runs today and my feet were a bit sore and wanted to be able to dance tonight at my company xmas party.
Overall a great 2 hrs worth of carving. The AMT is much easier to ride than my 4WD 179 that I had last year. It was worth every penny.

I bought some soft boots from them last year and it was a pleasure.
I did pay in full though...;)

Sure, just keeping turning the bindings to a 70 degree angle...
Going to have to know the angles you want to run first, but I am guessing you will want a wider board as a new rider.

Wicked sidecut, should act like big powder skis that have 33m sidecuts.

I hope to get to SP at some point this winter as I have never been there. Perhaps I will see you there.
Let me know when you are up. There are a couple more guys and we could have a mini expression session.

Not sure I can can make NES. I will in Moab in April with my dirt bike and will have forgotten all about snowboarding by then.

Sun Peaks opens November 19th. This thread will be pretty slow since it is usually just me there, but I am hoping to attend the carve camp and get some good photos of other riders.
It is also the 50th anniversary of the mountain this year.

Does anyone know what the LAST is of each boot instead of us just speculating on which is better for a high or low volume foot?
I know my UPZ boots are narrower than my ski boots and a race fit. I am guessing around 98mm from the factory like most race fit ski boots. I had them slightly punched out last winter and I would guess they are now 100mm as they were comparable to a set of Atomic Hawx 100mm ski boots I tried a couple of days ago.
My new HEAD ski boots have a user adjustable last and can range between 102mm-104mm by turning an allen wrench. This is an amazing feature and if the HEADs fit my feet well, I might be get some leftover snowboard boots at the end of the season.

I have been to Silver Star...lots of flat on that hill, needed poles. Terrain was ok, but it would be better on soft boots and skis.
I would suggest Sun Peaks again. The snow was epic last year and is a hard booting paradise.

I contacted Gavin and he removed my hotel and lift prices from the course, and even prorated it down to 3 days for me as I can't make Dec 18th due to it being my daughter's 1st birthday. She decided to show up last year during the camp...
There have got to be a few more hardbooters that are going to make it out to the camp.

Measure your feet and find out if it is 29 OR 30.
There seems to be lots of big boots coming up lately in the classifieds.

UPZs actually work well for those of us with wide feet.
Yes, for me too:) I was merely stating that compared to most relaxed/comfort/sport ski boots they are narrow. I know this because my skit boots are not race fit, but my RC-10 are.
BTW, the RC-10 are wicked boots. I agree with others...by new boots from the start.

I like tall end on the rear because it is more aerodynamic ;)
but, with mitts they seem to work better that way under my pants.
