  1. I think so they would. I have a pair of Raichle SB400 (?) (renamed Deeluxe) 26.0 boots and they were too big. Then I got a pair of Deeluxe Lemans (SB600?) 25.0 and they were too small... one thing is the shape of your foot... it you foot rounded (middle toe the biggest) or quarter-circled (big toe it the longest) - because the boot shapes are different and you might have to punch out the shell a tiny bit.

BTW, I also have very skinny ankles.

  2. Yes, the boots will work with bindings that don't support intec heels as well (or you can remove them and put in the original pads which I will include with the boots).

I understand the tendency as a parent with a growing child to buy gear slightly larger for them to grow into, but this is a major no-no for hardboots... it's going to make your son miserable with poor boot performance and potentially crippling boot pain and injury - at that point why bother even buying a hardboot. A bootfitter can actually stretch out the toe area of the boot to accomodate minor growth.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello again,

We are really interested in the boots but still trying to make sure they would work..... would these boots work ok with bindings that don't support intec heels? Or can I just remove them (and possibly use them later)? For my son who would use these for racing, we would want the binding to be solid (very little movement) and I heard the intec heels are not as solid for racing?? Size wise with him being only 12 with lots of growth to come, do we want this boot to just fit or be a little larger?

Thanks for your help in getting a young rider started in a hardboot set-up! Who knows maybe he'll never go back!

    Regards

  3. Lone rider,

Awesome! Please let me know shipping cost to NZ, address Methven postcode 7730. Thanks!

Hi, I am actually having a hard time getting a reasonable shipping cost to Methven, NZ. FedEx.com quoted $300?!?! for air shipping (I don't see any options for boat). US Postal Services suggests TWO large international flat rate boxes for 2 x $60 = $120. I've never shipped to NZ before, but do these sound like normal rates for you?
  4. Hi,

Thanks for the reply on the boots for my son. Do the boots run true to size? What is the BTS Spring used for? Would it be good or make it harder for a new hardboard/boot racer? If not can it be removed and put back on later? Thanks, Lisa

Yes, the boots run true to size. That's why hardboots use the Mondo sizing system - the number used is exactly the length of the inside of the boot in centimeters (Mondo 25.5 is 25.5 centimeters).

The BTS (Boot Tuning System) spring allow you to fine tune the flex of the boot and unquestionably makes the boot easier to ride. Here is a link with more information (scroll down half the page). Here is the link to the item on the Bomberonline store. You can also easily remove it (just need a screwdriver).

BTW... I found an extra set of toe/heel pads for the boots as well as insert bolts. I will include them for free.

PS. If you son has extremely skin/bony shins like I do, you can also get him some Shintronic shinpads to protect his shins from getting bruised. I have a pair that I bought $60 that I can throw in for $30 more.

  5. Hi,

My son was measured for a 7.5 boot, this would be his 1st pair of hardboots, he has narrow feet and is flat footed. Could these boots work for him? He would use them for racing GS and Slalom.

I have narrow/flat feet as well and my feet vary between size 7.5 and 8 depending on the brand. So yea I think these boot could work very well for your son.

If he has flat feet I would recommend a custom footbed like Sole Supports or Superfeet Cork (sold separate from these boots of course).

  6. Update: I will sell the heels separately for $60 + shipping. Price for boot (standard heel) is $370 + shipping.

Hi, I'm selling a part of excellent condition (used maybe six days total) Head Stratos Pro that have been decently modified for optimal riding. Most notably I've install a set of BTS springs (yellow springs) on the boots as well have cut away some of the internal plastic to make it flex much more naturally (there was a post by some of the European EC carvers on how to do it on the main forum a couple of years ago).

The boots also come with the original thermofit liners never baked (I also have a pair of Intuition foam liners... but I doubt they will fit your feet as they are custom to my feet).

Also come with Intec heels install and a Booster strap on top.

Buying all of these separately would cost you around $750 and a few hours of shop time to drill/cut/modify boots. I'm asking for $430 + plus shipping (no shipping if you pick it up SF Bay Area or North Lake Tahoe). I can provide more photos if you want to see a particular area in more detail.

    Thanks

  7. Good one.

That's like saying you learned french by knowing what "bonjour" means.

When you're setting them down on snow, I'll send you $20 for the vid.

:D Lol, if I eve got it on video, I would show it to everyone for free. Here's
    (me filming my friend).

    To be fair... Shaun White's

ended up pretty much the same as mine... just by the fourth attempt, he's super close to landing them... whereas I have a lot of trouble maintaining my spatial awareness after the first flip/rotation (I only got around 30 attempts total on the air bag). I was a lot closer on the plain jane double backflips as I could land down on my board a lot of the time... but that isn't quite really good enough for me to literally risk my neck on a regular jump.

We had a guy in my group working on double front flips and on the last day he tried one off a 40-50 ft jump in the Mainline park at Mammoth... he got his board down, but had too much momentum left over and faceplanted... but aside from some minor scrapes was otherwise unhurt and I personally would describe any double cork rotation over a 40+ jump that doesn't wreck you as a success ;)

  8. How's the d3o stuff as far as breathability?

Hot like the "old" body armour, or better?

It is a lot more breathable mostly because of the design than the material itself. My old body armor was half-inch foam rubber (foam rubber is an excellent insulator... which is not so great when it's warm/hot outside) with a plastic laminate (clearly plastic laminate is very breathable), d30 is quarter-inch thick with no plastic laminate, and with a lot more holes in the padding itself.
