hmm. planning or hoping to use it off piste, backcountry. Should be alright if I use my softer wider alpine board, right?

Very hand with tools-ski tech. Have a local shop in NZ that lets me use the equipment too. Thinking of cutting into one of my alpine boards and making my own. Just worried about it. I have a Burton Factory Prime 167(stiff) and a Burton Ultra Prime 167(softer) that I would be willing to cut into.
Found one of your previous posts oldsnowboards about turning an alpine board into a splitboard. The Ultra Prime might get the saw. Big concern about trying to install inner edges.

Go to edgewise. Great place! They have a killer half million $ machine. Really quick and you can get any pattern in your base that you want.

The KEY part of using a base weld is the heat the welder puts off. It heats the surrounding base enough so the base bonds with what you are adding(edge grip); the additive and existing melt together. That s the key part so it will support your edge properly and not rip out.

Well now that you put a p-tex candle into it, it is going to be VERY difficult to repair correctly. The p-tex candle has a lot of oils in it. Once you rip it out to try to do a real repair you will find that the base weld will not hold. There will be a lot of liquid leaking out of your base, this is from the p-tex candle. You should really base weld it with edge grip. It is the hardest base material out there. And will 100% protect your edge.

yeah, it doesn't come in a stick and you need a base welder to be able to use it. If you know of a shop that can do base welds and they just don't have metal grip I can send you some.

if you base weld the board with a specific type of p-tex called edge grip it will bond and hold with your core(metal, glass...)

Can you upload a picture? Where are you located? Would you be willing to ship it to a shop for them to fix it?
You need to get a base weld in there. If you were to put epoxy in there first, allow it to dry then try to base weld over it, the base weld will not hold. The oils in the epoxy will mess everything up. And the epoxy will melt under the heat of the base welder.

be careful where you bring that to!!! DO NOT use a p-tex candle or even a p-tex gun. You want that base welded with a thing called edge grip. Be careful what shop you bring it to. if you are anywhere near vt, bring it to a shop called the startingate.

Any body ridden on the extreme series? Particularly the Stealth model of the extreme line. I think it might be the next edition the crew. Would love to hear some feedback on it.

Try Kuu Mach 2 in blue(cold). Make sure you start with a hot scrape of a prep wax. and be sure to brush and buff. Rotobrush if you have one!

I was talking to some folks in NZ about it and they mentioned an issue of cutting through the middle insert in a Burton? Anyone experience this as a problem?
