  1. Very hand with tools-ski tech. Have a local shop in NZ that lets me use the equipment too. Thinking of cutting into one of my alpine boards and making my own. Just worried about it. I have a Burton Factory Prime 167(stiff) and a Burton Ultra Prime 167(softer) that I would be willing to cut into.

Found one of your previous posts oldsnowboards about turning an alpine board into a splitboard. The Ultra Prime might get the saw. Big concern about trying to install inner edges.

  2. Well now that you put a p-tex candle into it, it is going to be VERY difficult to repair correctly. The p-tex candle has a lot of oils in it. Once you rip it out to try to do a real repair you will find that the base weld will not hold. There will be a lot of liquid leaking out of your base, this is from the p-tex candle. You should really base weld it with edge grip. It is the hardest base material out there. And will 100% protect your edge.

    Good luck!

  3. Can you upload a picture? Where are you located? Would you be willing to ship it to a shop for them to fix it?

You need to get a base weld in there. If you were to put epoxy in there first, allow it to dry then try to base weld over it, the base weld will not hold. The oils in the epoxy will mess everything up. And the epoxy will melt under the heat of the base welder.
