You sound like you are on the right track, find something that fits before you worry about features and looks.
If the Giro you have now fits well, try out one of their higher end helmets, like the stylus, or save a few more pennies and go for the atmos, it looks very well vented, but unfortunately is quite a bit out of your price range.

Thanks for the inspiration, just finished the stealth anchors in the back yard, waiting for payday to pick up some lumber to build some a-frames.

No duh, most Chinese are half the size of normal people here and dont have any reason to own a large vehicle. I'd like to see a little toyota pull a trailer loaded with #5000 of brush or dirt. Not going to happen.
Please tell me this is sarcasm and not the ignorant bigotry that it seems like.

Obviously down hill skiis are release types.
That begs the question, are there practical reasons & situations to want a break away / releasable alpine board binding ?
EA Miller made a releasable plate binding in the late 80's early 90's. It didn't really go anywhere.
The first releaseable ski bindings relied on a plate fitted to the boot similar to what a snowboard plate binding looks like.
I will mirror what others here are saying, it is unfortunate that you were injured in a crash, but snowboarding can be dangerous, that's life.
If you want to go through life with everything "bubble wrapped" for safety, that's your choice.

Is it the time of year?
No, but it might have something to do with the Winter Olympics starting soon.

I've seen quite a few painful injuries as a result of people putting their hands down. Had a buddy pull off his mitten after digging a hand into a soft patch of snow to discover a badly dislocated finger one time.
Get close but keep the hands off.

The other advantage here is you are facing up the hill and can see the moron about to hit you.
Ah, I see you have experienced the Whistler gorby syndrome as well.

You need a bittorrent client. something like utorrent works well (if you have a PC). http://www.utorrent.com/I can't download it. When I click on "download this torrent" is asks me if I want to find or save it, and I clicked find but windows can't open it. What am I doing wrong? -
I guess since someone brought up this old thread, I'll post my skid.

Something to think about, Most credit card companies prohibit businesses from billing a customer before the item has been shipped.

Slider, that shape is great, whats the waist on that, 22cm or so??
Don't remember offhand, board is in storage currently, when I drag it out I will have to measure.
It's a beauty, like a violin!Pithy for that unfortunate transition from nose to body geometries...
Not sure what you mean by that?

In the XC-Ski world, the no-wax stuff is fine, but you won't find a competitor on it. No idea how much that pertains to our uses though.
In the XC ski world no-wax bases are textured with a fishscale pattern so you don't have to mess around with messy grip wax for going uphill. Doesn't really apply the the "glide" part of the ski. If you want good performance you still need to apply a glide wax.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, Just want to add some info.
Carl, the owner of Skid, is living in Golden, and as far as I know, will still build boards/skis for people if they want them.
My 178 all mountain is still going strong after about 8 or so years.
