  1. You sound like you are on the right track, find something that fits before you worry about features and looks.

If the Giro you have now fits well, try out one of their higher end helmets, like the stylus, or save a few more pennies and go for the atmos, it looks very well vented, but unfortunately is quite a bit out of your price range.

  2. Obviously down hill skiis are release types.

That begs the question, are there practical reasons & situations to want a break away / releasable alpine board binding ?

EA Miller made a releasable plate binding in the late 80's early 90's. It didn't really go anywhere.

The first releaseable ski bindings relied on a plate fitted to the boot similar to what a snowboard plate binding looks like.

I will mirror what others here are saying, it is unfortunate that you were injured in a crash, but snowboarding can be dangerous, that's life.

If you want to go through life with everything "bubble wrapped" for safety, that's your choice.

  3. I've seen quite a few painful injuries as a result of people putting their hands down. Had a buddy pull off his mitten after digging a hand into a soft patch of snow to discover a badly dislocated finger one time.

Get close but keep the hands off.

  4. Slider, that shape is great, whats the waist on that, 22cm or so??

Don't remember offhand, board is in storage currently, when I drag it out I will have to measure.

    It's a beauty, like a violin!

Pithy for that unfortunate transition from nose to body geometries...

Not sure what you mean by that?

  5. In the XC-Ski world, the no-wax stuff is fine, but you won't find a competitor on it. No idea how much that pertains to our uses though.

In the XC ski world no-wax bases are textured with a fishscale pattern so you don't have to mess around with messy grip wax for going uphill. Doesn't really apply the the "glide" part of the ski. If you want good performance you still need to apply a glide wax.
