It was not a bad collection of information, but it would be hard to add back in as it was; it definitely wasn't written in the encyclopedia-ish tone that the rest of wikipedia is written in, and worse, it cited basically no references or sources, and probably all qualifies as "original research."
It probably deserved to have been deleted according to wikipedia's rules, unfortunately.

John! It will be good to see you. Yes, I was trying to buy these gloves for the SES this year, but looks like it'll be too late. As to being able to carve: I feel like my brain will be up to the task but my legs (and back) are weak and out of shape I think.

SO, back to the original question:
I ended up ordering these back on Jan 21 (when I first posted this thread), and haven't heard a peep from the guy. I sent an email to his customer service email as well. Anybody know him or what's going on with him? Is it a company or just one guy? Off skiing somewhere? Horrible family emergency? Just slow on fulfilling orders?
I was hoping to have these for the SES but looking less and less likely...

Does anyone know if these include and/or have a spot to attach "idiot strings"?
I only have one glove left to compare :) , but it has a little plastic loop on the cuff you could tie something to. I assume the matching glove has a similar loop (probably with a little clip that hooks to the first glove), but am not sure.
It definitely does not come with them though.

Hey! Nice to hear from you! I have not even seen snow in 5 years! I'm out of practice. I will probably not ride in Tahoe - too spoiled to ride anything but hero snow in Colorado :) Come kitesurf in the bay with me!

So my last Thor gloves (that people here seem to love) lasted forever but apparently I lost one, so I need a replacement.
Was just wondering if anybody had a link to a reputable online seller, or any experience buying from either of the two online stores I could find:

I just ask because those websites seem really... sketchy to me and don't have anything to do with snowsports. musicnews? huntingnews? iirc the last time I bought it was from a different but equally shady-feeling website (thundercloudmarketing or some such) and it turned out just fine, but I just want to make sure I don't get scammed.

The pipe insulation is great - also, it comes already cut down one side so you can just slide it right on. When I travel, I usually:
1) pipe insulation on edges, also on tip and tail.
2) nylon straps to hold pipe insulation in place
3) pack tight in hard case so it doesn't slide around/bang around in there (sportube).
4) ship a week in advance with fedex (seems less likely to get lost/broken/delayed). I have had fairly good luck flying with gear, but even so it's just too stressful for me to deal with gear getting bumped to the next flight due to weight, or lost for a day or two, or whatever. Also, lugging giant boxes or bags through the airport and messing with it is generally a huge pain in the ass, too.
It might even be cheaper shipping than paying for extra bags at the airport now, anyway.

I do what Angie does. If your legs are extended, your center of gravity is quite far over, and it is quite difficult to get up without twisting your knees in half.
If you align your entire body (hips, shoulders, etc.) towards the nose of the board (sideways to the slope), it should be easy and painless to bend your knees all the way so your butt is quite close to your board. At this point, your hip should be on the snow, not your butt. Your thigh may even be contacting the snow. From here it's easy to just push off with your uphill hand.

Yeah, but what landline? I haven't had one for 5+ years. Safeway has the last landline phone # I ever used; a shared phone in a house I rented with 4 friends. Can't think of any reason I'd ever want to talk to them anyway, so it works out well.
(Hopefully there will never be a major food recall that I don't hear about because they don't have a valid number...)
I have a landline that comes with DSL which is the only reason why I still have one. Although even if I switch to cable or something, I would consider paying a nominal fee for a landline anyway, just in case (for emergencies in case power goes out and I can't charge my cel phone, etc.), and continue giving that number to stuff like Safeway.

Solution is easy these days: unplug your landline. Probably everybody you know calls your cel anyway, so therefore 100% of calls on the landline are telemarketers.
Then you can give that home phone # to any random business that "needs" it for whatever deal (safeway club card, etc.).

What a weird video. Why do they think this guy's mannerisms are so completely bizarre and quirky that his idiosyncrasies deserve video coverage? He seems completely and utterly unremarkable in terms of personality and outlook - he's just a friendly, relaxed guy who happens to be an amazing climber, no? "Dude" "Chill" "Mellow"? How many people here DON'T know somebody just like him? So weird...
Back on topic - I kinda feel bad for the guy. He hasn't had an accident yet, so he doesn't have fear... but with the kinds of risks he takes, he probably won't have a second chance...

right, but i've also been told that anything you put on FB is no longer copyrighted. the owner can watermark it, but anyone can still use it. I was wondering if that was the same for youtube.
I appreciate the feedback, but does anyone know for sure? I think these are guesses. I just don't want someone suing me because i used 30 sec of their video clip for an information video.

Youtube/facebook/the web in general acts more like a public place. If I paint a painting and display it in a public place, I still own all the rights to the painting - you're not allowed to make copies of that painting and use them for anything, despite the fact that I let people look at it for free in a public place.

Late to this thread, but fwiw Sony Vegas Studio HD Platinum 10 (or whatever it's called exactly) is a pretty nice editor, and looks like it handles almost any format, and is quite cheap for editing software at $100.
I used to have Vegas 9, which had issues reading certain kinds of formats, would really chug hard on HD video (I'd have to render a low res proxy and edit that, and only use the original source afterwards), but 10 seems to have fixed all my issues with it; it feels great now.
Intuitive interface, good performance, good encoding (from what I've seen so far).
My only issues with it right now are that they cap the time stretching from 25% to 400% slowmo/speedup, and it's a bit of a bear to make a freeze frame... and I believe there are no track-wide volume/fade envelopes, just envelopes per clip event (all these are in the pro version). Not sure about the last thing; that's the way it was in 9 anyway.

I like it. Having best pitches with worst lift wasn't good value for your lift $$$. Maybe now we can finally get more than 35K vertical in a day.
I think my main problem with it is that it decreases variety. There are already a million billion runs that are kinda-sorta crowded (but not really, because it's Aspen) but perfect carving runs, fed by high speed lifts. You can ride Ruthies all day, or any of the runs on Big Burn or Sheer Bliss (and lots of others) at Snowmass, or loop Gunbarrel or Goldenhorn/Thunderbowl at Highlands or whatever. If you were the kind of person that wanted a truly empty run with the trade off of having a really slow lift, you could do that by going to Tiehack, but not anymore -- now Tiehack will be just like all those other runs.
