No bother Sierrasnowbrdr01 - I'll stick with the F2's for now. I'll poke around and see if I can find some info on the differences in pins. I suspect the length is identical. I've thought about going back to bails as well but have popped out of those over the years too.

Are these pins longer than the original or just harder? I've found with the used set of Fin Tec heels I bought that they don't engage all that confidently. I've added grease to the pins, inside mechanism, and td3sw w/o much change. I went back to F2 Intec heels and am much more confident with the engagement. If these will be longer and give me more confidence I'll buy them.

I met him at Steamboat this last week and while I was typically my dorky self, saying dorky things, he was an exceedingly nice and genuine guy. The utmost professional, helpful and kind. I know nothing of his racing skills, results, etc. but as a human being he's an absolute winner.

Steamboat just got 17" and conditions are really good. A-basin is small and aggressive. Probably not great for a beginner. Anything else in summit county is good for learning and just on the other side of Eisenhower tunnel/Loveland Pass. Plenty of lodging and night activities as well.

There's a bit of everything at Jackson Hole. Grand Targhee is fun too. I tracked down a local when I was out there (years! ago) and had him take me into the back country. Provided all the transportation, shovels, beacons, etc. Was a blast.

I have a pair of the new black/red Deeluxe Thermoflex Liners M26 from a pair of 325's I bought in January that have been molded 3x for sale. $100 o.b.o. plus shipping.

I road the new liners yesterday and WHAT a difference. Super comfortable, better heel hold, toasty, and the best part NO heel pain.

My mistake. I picked up http://en-us.fulltiltboots.com/ski-boot-liners/pro-ski-boot-liner. Planning on riding them Saturday and keeping my fingers crossed the heel pain is gone and that they are as comfortable on the hill as they are walking around the house.

Slid some intuition liners in the 325 shells and they were so comfortable right out of the box compared to the Thermoflex liners. I didn't even mold them. I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to ride with them before a trip out west but hoping to give it a try (fingers crossed for more snow) in the next 2-3 weeks. I felt a really hard transition lip on the thermoflex and didn't say anything to the boot fitter. He mentioned the same thing and thinking that transition lip on the inside is what's causing the pain. I plan on bringing them out west in the chance the intuitions don't work and will see if they can be punched out toward the bottom and that lip. Appreciate everyone's replies.

They were heated in a convection oven and were plenty hot and squishy. I used a neoprene and rubber cap followed by thin sock (also had my own thin socks under both those). Stepped on a board and flexed a lot till cool (15+ min each time).

Thanks for the reply. I'll be honest I've changed some things this year. I went from toe lift/inward cant(front foot) and heel lift/no cant(rear foot) with the td3 to flat on front/back foot with the TD3SW. I've had 2 pairs of Raichle/Deeluxe boots (loved), several pair of Burton's (hated), and Head Stratos Pro (no longer fit but liked a lot). I replaced the recent Heads with the Deluxe 325 after a new set of liners failed to improve the heads (wasted money there :( ). I've had a respected boot fitter in Milwaukee fit my boots 3x (not including the attempts with the heads) and am going to go back as time permits to have the heel pocket pushed out more. I don't think there's any issue with the intec cable. I think it's just an issue with the liner heel pocket and my heel. It's only on the rear foot (have improved/eliminated the heel lift issue from early on). I get the sense though if my front foot was doing the amount of my rear was doing the pain would be there too. I'm open to any suggestions at this point. Colorado vacation is coming up in a 7 weeks and don't want to be miserable with family and friends.

Good question dingbat :) I have been going to a highly respected PT and have been put through excruciating pain to improve my foot bones, joints, ligaments, strength, etc. I do have high arches and a lot of foot issues. Non so far seem to be related to the heel pain when riding the boot. Hopefully I can figure it out as riding in pain is no fun. After 26+ years in hard boots I'd hate to go back to a soft set up.

Hope to try the J-shaped pads this weekend you mentioned. I can stand in my boots w/o pain at the boot fitter, but after 90-120 minutes of riding it's unbearable. One weekend after 6 hours I was nearly in tears from the throbbing while on the lift at my heel. Hopefully a few more molds and punching out the heel will take care of this. Heading to Steamboat in March....any good guys out there that fit boots?

I'm using intecs but it seems to start on the bottom of the opposite side of the intec cable. I haven't read through the link but will so have I finish some meetings. Thanks. If that doesn't work may spend another $150+ on some intuitions. Many moldings, changes, etc. and can't seem to get rid of it. Besides the heel the boots feel great.

I've been to the boot fitter (great guy and really seems to know what he's doing) 3x with/without footbeds, punched out the heel a bit, etc. and I can't seem to get rid of the pain. I've also been going to a PT to work on foot, joint, calf mobility and there's been some improvement to other minor fit issues but I've never felt this kind of heel pain from a hard boot. Did the person NHRider that purchased the intuitions have the 325's with the dc131's? Been a rough year of riding so far. Moments of confidence and comfort but this pain is crazy.

Sorry for the delay - busy work days/nights. I'm not sure what model Donek it is. The only markings anywhere on it are the Donek on the light wood grain top sheet and the white Donek pigeon on the black ptex base. There's no measurements on the sidewall. If I was to guess since I bought it used a few years back is that it's an early-mid 2000's Twin. I'm sure it will be fine...thanks all for the insight.

I have two boards:
1) Coiler Stubby (167) w/td3 SW step in
2) Donek Wide w/x-bones step in
Living in the Midwest we don't get many powder days so I don't ride the Donek Wide often at all. I'm going to Steamboat at the end of March and planning on bringing both boards in the hope they'll be powder to use the Donek Wide.
Anyone have experience with this board in powder?
Is there another board that is absolutely awesome in powder that someone would be willing to let me demo?
