  1. Cool board, do you have spec? I would buy one next year.

178 x 21 nirvana balance (vsr i am pretty sure, no clue what the sidecuts are). i've been riding one of bruce's AMTs for the last 4 years or so and i love it, so i'm really looking forward getting on this one as i've heard so many good things about the nirvanas :)

  2. Very pretty Wallstrum, is that your own topsheet or is Bruce offering that as a stock one now?

I made it. It's been a long and arduous process (on Bruce's part) to finally get the board made. We initially tried for a real bubinga veneer, and that didn't pan out due to to the fact that it flexed differently at different temperatures (got *much* stiffer as it got colder according to Bruce). I ended up finding a high-res picture of bubinga and making my own "graphic" topsheet. I've been a fan of woodys for a long time, and I'm excited to finally climb back on one since I stopped riding my arbor 7 years ago :)

  3. This is a great option. I've had 4 days already this year that I skied with my 3 year old then switched to boarding. My wife might kill me though if I buy yet another pair of boots.

    Would these take a BTS?

Would I really need special AT bindings?

since these are basically deeluxe boots, i'd imagine that you could install bts (at least the bomber version as talked about here: http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/BTS-kit_p_106.html). i don't think you need AT bindings - i just borrowed a random pair of downhill skis from a friend and fit the bindings that came on them to my boots; it worked great!

  4. hey john - i've only been able to get out on them twice this season so far, but i do like them. they're comfortable, and i *love* the convenience of being able to switch between my board and skis without having to change boots. i'm far from a hardcore skier (hadn't skied for ~20 years before last season), so i can't speak to how well they'd do on the steeps or bumps but they do what i need them to. these boots are a 27.5 (which is the same size as the head stratos pro's i had before) and they have a 299mm sole length (which is also *exactly* the same as my stratos pro's - i measured them both to make sure). i believe my current board has a 21cm width, and i'm running 50 rear and 55 front for my angles. i haven't noticed any boot drag running them like that. hope this helps!

  5. Hello everyone - It's taken a little while to come to fruition, but i've found another option for boots. Last year, I started researching using AT boots on my board because I have a daughter who's now 3.5 years old and *loving* skiing. I didn't want to have to carry 2 sets of boots in addition to already having to haul skis and a board, plus my daughter and all of her stuff too, so AT/ski boots seemed like a way to cut down on the amount of gear I would need. I came across an OLD thread by yyxcanuck (http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?14753-TD2-A-T-boot-option&p=130271#post130271) which showed what looked picture of a Deeluxe snowboard boot with a ski boot sole. Reaching out to Deeluxe, I was told that the new iteration of those boots in had seen were coming out for this year. Behold the First Degree Stormtrooper boots :) : http://www.firstdegreeboots.com/boots.cfm. They're made by Deeluxe under a partnership with Icelantic Skis. I got the ST2's (stiffer), and their sole-length is exactly the same as the Head Stratos Pros I have been using. So far, I've only made it out one day so I can't really offer any constructive feedback, but I do like them so far. Hope this helps anyone out there looking to straddle the lines like I am.

  6. Hello all - I'm changing my whole setup and need to sell some stuff to do so. Here's what I have for sale:

    - 27.5 black Head Stratos Pro boots in great shape that I've worn for the last ~3 seasons (I even have the original box, extra set of orange tongues, 2 extra sets of heel pads and 1 set of extra set of forefoot pads that originally came with them). My wife has had 2 kids in that timeframe, so I've been able to use them waaaay less than I would have liked (~2-10 days a season, vs. the 30 days I was getting in before). They have Fintec heels on them, and also I have a new Bomber BTS system that I bought for them but never had time to install. $450 plus shipping for the whole lot, but I'm willing to break things up for reasonable offers. [UPDATE: Boots and BTS sold; Fintecs available for $100 plus shipping]

    - 1 set of Bomber TD3 traditional step-in bindings with 0 degree cant disks, 4-hole center disks, and yellow e-rings. $300 plus shipping (these fit perfectly into a USPS medium priority box, which is ~$11 to ship anywhere in the US).

    Thanks!

  7. I'm in the process of changing my entire setup and need to get my hands on some TD3 regular bindings to replace the step-ins I currently have. I have 2 sets of TD3 step-ins and a set of Fintecs, and I need to get some regular TD3's or some TD3 sidewinders. You can see my post in the for sale forum here: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?38210-27-5-head-stratos-pro-and-td3-bindngs. Let me know if you have something for me. Thanks,

    Wally

  8. Hello all - I'm changing my whole setup and need to sell some stuff to do so. Here's what I have for sale:

    - 2 sets of Bomber TD3 traditional step-in bindings with 6 degree cant disks, 4-hole disks, and yellow e-rings. $325 plus shipping each. [uPDATE: 1 set sold; 1 still up for grabs]

If someone is interested in a step-in setup, I am willing to work out a trade for TD3 standard or sidewinder bindings.

I haven't had time to snap any pictures, but if you're interested and want to see some, let me know and I'll get some to you.

  9. Still available? If so, I might be interested. Just starting out with hardboots, so I wonder if the 21.4 waist will be ok. That's why I'm looking for an ATV as well. I'm 200 lbs. too.

    Was this your starter board?

yup, still available. this was my first carving board. i had nothing else to compare to at the time, so i can't speak for whether it's the "perfect" starter board, but it certainly served its purpose for me : ) if you're worried about the waist size, there's nothing like trial by fire ; ) let me know if you're interested.

    thanks,

    wally

  10. Is the base flat? The pic of the base makes it look base high. Structure in the middle, nothing at the edges.

These ARE great boards, I've owned three. The 174 was my favorite.(Blue one in my avitar) I'm looking for a board for a buddy who is getting back into boarding and I'm trying to turn him to the dark side. Perfect board for somebody carving in soft boots that wants to step it up.

board's still on the market. base looks flat when i hold a scraper across it; can't comment on the structure though, i forgot to check that before i packed it up to ship. it's definitely been a great board for me to learn on, and has treated me well. just time for me to move on to something more advanced now : )
