  1. Ted I NEED to see these flowteks and any info you can give me on making them. I love my flows but I want to go to cateks(very impressive with the hardbindings I had last year). My email is zephyr_8ajc@yahoo.com. Thanks

edit cancel that its right here- http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=176660&postcount=14

I'd still like to see the updated version though. We will see what I can cook up once I get a hold of some fr2s. Used to be a welder/fabricator once upon a time, but I'm lazy so it will probably still be ugly. lol

  2. I bought the full set up last year head/cateks etc. And while I enjoyed it, I found out some funny things about myself. I didn't carve a lot harder on the hardboots, I tended to carve harder after switching back to softies. I also found out the support made me much more comfortable in the air on hardboots. I work as a lifty so it was pretty common for me to be riding either(and skis at times) randomly. I started dragging my hand on the softboots, but had a lot of trouble with the hardboots. I tended to just be hauling ass everywhere. Which was fun but cost me a broken left arm for a half a season(plated/bolted back on). Most of the reason for my crash was I spread myself out too much, and consequently wasn't good at any one thing. My first season I progressed as a snowboarder an amazing amount, last year I didn't really get anywhere.

Anyway so this year I'm thinking catek free rides(plus power strap or 3rd) and softies. One setup for everything and concentrate on one thing. I don't have anything against hardboots, but they just don't work very well for me in trees and powder without rediculous speed.

I'm 23 by the way, alot of the people I ride with are jibbers as well. hardboots aren't lost on all of the younger crowd, but there are a lot of people that just don't want to do it.

Softbootsailer...do you ride buttermilk alot? Your binding setup looks familiar. There is a guy who tends to ride west in the morning that I used to always try to copy his lines on my hardboots. I will probably be copying a version of your bindings this season.

  3. Just thought I'd tease/let you guys know that there is a ton of snow in the high country. Had to use a snowmobile today at work, and after about half way up snowmass the snow was pretty deep. We're talking sink to my knees in fluffy stuff up top. Pretty impressive for the first week of november.

How's the rest of the country doing on snow? Excited yet?

  4. I haven't been wearing my boots around the apartment but the stair comment reminded me of a story. I was running late for the bus one time wearing some hardboots and I found out I could run while wearing them. Now granted its not quite a sprint, more of a large jumping stride but you'd be surprised the crap you can pull if you try hard enough. Lol, I bet everyone thought I was a dork that time. Some people seemed impressed though.

I went snowboarding last weekend.:biggthump Gotta love Colorado! We got a foot yesterday at the top of the mountain.

  5. Don't know whats different this year but last year I ordered my bindings, had them in a week, and they were perfect. Had all my emails answered promptly and they seemed like great guys. I plan on ordering some fr2s this year because I was so impressed by the 0s2's I got last year. Yes I got a pro deal, but I am in no way sponsered or paid. I just really liked their products.(p.s. I only buy stuff I get pro deals on anyway(i'm poor) so that really has no bearing on it)

  6. lstzephyr Bob is one of the Fathers of this board. He is one of the best people you will ever meet, I had an off on a motorcycle ride a couple seasons ago while out with him and he stuck by me and helped. I kept telling him go enjoy I'll be fine but he made sure I was ok and not just talking the talk. He stuck around at the shop until I got back out and even offered to ride with me North instead of going to meet up with the people we had plans with. There are not many in the world like him.

    Paul

    Sounds like an awesome guy!!:biggthump

By the way, My name is Alan.

  7. Bob Jenney was the one with you when my friend and I stopped to see what was going on, and he's the one that took your board down later. Super nice guy; buy him a beer next year!

I'll definetly do that. Is he on here? I really appreciated not having to worry about that metal prior being lost or unable to be demoed.

Thanks for stopping. It helped me deal with the pain to have people around to distract me.

Yes it happened at the SES. I demoed a 176 prior wcr metal. I had been skiing the day before, I hadn't warmed up on my own board, and I didn't take it slow to learn the new board. It was also the narrowest board I've ridden. I was going down a run in a carve, and came up on a roller I had forgotten about going far too fast. I went to flatten it out to jump it, overcompensated and caught the edge. Basically I was unprepared and screwed up. :nono: Oops.

It is healing fast, seems like everyday it feels 5 times better. thanks for the well wishes

  8. I can drive well enough. My truck is a stick so its interesting but beats getting bumped on the bus. My arm has finally stopped hurting and I'm starting to get some flexibility back. I'm back to work(well "work" I don't do alot but I can watch the lifts) and figuring out how to do stuff so I'm definetly doing good. They tell me 6 weeks or so.

I think thats just aspen. Its crazy sometimes, there are beautiful women everywhere.

  9. Hi,

I just wanted to say thanks to those of you at the ses that helped me out. I took a roller wrong and crashed heavily on my shoulder, breaking my left arm. It was excruciatingly painful and I couldn't manage to help myself in anyway despite having the numbers to call for help/ski patrol. I have no idea who you were and I couldn't concentrate enough to even remember your face but all I need to know is that I crashed and there were multiple carvers/people gathered around to help me on the slopes. Someone took the demo board down to the tent and for that alone I owe you quite a bit. Someone took the board off my feet when I couldn't, they kept talking to me and trying to help, offering to take my backpack off and other ways to make me feel more comfortable. And they didn't even just immediately go on with their day when ski patrol showed up. You were my friends I never knew and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.:1luvu:

I went to the hospital(or rather was carried there), scanned a ton, xrayed, and eventually patched up. I now have a titanium plate in my arm and a scar from the surgery. The nurses, doctors, paramedics, mri techs, cooks and everyone was just amazing. Just reminded me how awesome people can be.

ride hard, I'll be back with you soon enough.

  10. Good to see your moving around and got your truck back home. I was your broken carver roomate at aspen valley. Your enthusiasm is impressive and I definetly feel your pain. You never know how much you use certain joints until you can't. I have had to plan out how to move certain things and how to do stuff that is normally so simple.

Since we are both bionic titanium infused men I propose a race! First one to heal wins a beer at the next ses! Hell I'll buy you a beer(or whatever your preference is) either way.:biggthump Heal quick.

The nurses were really cute huh? However they gave me pain drugs so I would have thought they were angels no matter what.:p

  11. Well I broke my arm and am a bit strapped for cash. So this is a feeler for these items. If I like the offer I will sell. All items were used about 10-15 days by lightweight(165 lbs) rider.

Catek OS2 long intec(step in) basically brand new. slightly scuffed tail piece(from the pins) and a couple light scratches. silver. Make an offer as well but I'm thinking 250.-sold

Heavy Tools Drive 160. Green, chipped, scratched up and stickered. I don't expect to sell it but if you want it make an offer. Fun board.

f2 intec heels. good condition, barely used. includes all hardware and t nuts-sold

Head Stratos Pros....28.5 barely used. Light scuffs on the inside of both boots. Extra tongue, multiple extra heel/toe blocks. Liners never molded, barely feel packed. F2 Intec heels installed. Black. Make an offer but I'm thinking 300 plus shipping.....sold

  12. We get a lot of racers wandering around with multiple boards/skis but generally they aren't around except during races. Where I work I doubt anybody would care, we would probably just all look at you funny. I'd be happy to toss your board in the shack with mine. No guarantee or anything and I'm sure ski co would deny responsibility but I don't mind looking after people's stuff. Maybe the other lifties there would do the same. Seems like I have somebodies backpack or something around all the time.

  13. I'm also a newbie local hardbooter(live in carbondale, work for buttermilk(lifty) I'd be up to ride a couple days but I'm only off on tuesday/wednessday. I'm begining to get it now, and had a great day ripping it up with my friends. They are all jibbers though so I stand out.

I work either west or summit usually. Top of west most likely. I'm a tall red bearded skinny guy named Alan, drop by the shack and say hi. Send me an email if you want to ride and try to figure this all out.

  14. Antsy about snow? Oh hell yes I am!! I just got my new head hardboots(first winter with hardboots, woot) and my new high society softboot board has just been staring at me lately. Plus I just ordered some new cateks!! I'm stoked, I couldn't afford to do much hardbooting last year(ok I got one day in on some demos) but now I got the whole setup, a hardboot board/bindings/boots and a softboot board/bindings/boots!:biggthump I can't wait to move back to aspen again and start shoveling snow/being a liftie. I should be able to start riding less than a week after I get there, before the mountains even open. You know I'm excited to ride when I get excited to shovel snow:smashfrea . But hey I shovel, they give me a ticket, not all bad, should be a good winter! I do need to get out and skate a few times before I leave the desert though, longboarding rocks.
