  1. I liked looking at the lengths of the boards posted and did not see much long stuff. Here goes:

    Sims Burner 198

    Sims Burner 188 (a favorite)

    Rossi WC190

Coiler RC184 (the ultimate battle wagon)

    Rentiger RT178

    Donek FC179

    Donek FC171

    Coiler AM172

    F2 Silberwhatever 167

    Osin 4807 178

    Osin 4807 168

    Burton Asym 164

    Rossi RC167

I still can't turn worth a crap so I seem to prefer riding the longer lengths that handle the speed much better. "Look out below!" is going to have to become my new mantra

  2. At 5'6" / 140LBS wet. I had some pictures at a Performance carve camp from

2003 and you could see that there was no flex showing in a carve, it was ramrod straight. That was the last time I rode it. I've kept it cuz it is such an unusual board. High speed capability with alot of dampening.

  3. I rode the Vampire at SES05 and will never forget the memory. I promised Bola that I would see him soon about one but life takes some funny turns sometimes, like my style of riding. I still dream about that board.

  4. ....is what some people do not address or are in denial of. Injuries are heeled but a human body repair is usually never "as good as new". Confidence will return and maybe even a lesson learned will help you. Alot of times you just eventually become more consistant (wiser) and polished from all these experiences You may not go for the X-game moves as often or at all. Some of us are content with the memories (like Al Bundy who played high school football) and some just never say when (like Miguel Duhamel/AMA Pro Racing). You end up adapting but the one thing "I" can't accept is the constant annoying pain that lives with me day after day. So...........would I do it again? HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best of luck on your recovery. Gavin

  5. I held true on "oldsnowboards" statements. I have my Burton Asym-6. The justification method is also very valid to me (thanks Peter, it works on my wife). That's why I ride so many types in a day. I would rather have a set of tools, where each tool has a specific purpose to do a job well. Compared to lets say a sledge hammer which sort of works on a lot of things. The RT178 has got to go! However I did just finish prepping it and will probably ride it one last time this weekend at Mammoth.

  6. I have a lot of boards and ride most all of them on a regular basis. I was wondering if I should sell the ones I don't use or keep them as "classics". One board in question is a 2003 Rentiger 178cm. It's everything they say. It rides like a 195 length with no chatter at speed. However at 140lbs I can't get it to flex. Another one I have is a 168cm F2 Silberwhatever w/conshox. If I ever take another Snow Performance class I would consider using this or if I went back east to a smaller mountain (yeah right). O-sin 4807 178cm i would use for heli boarding (when the wife finally leaves me). These boards are in great condition and I don't need the money. I just bought a Burner 188 (finally after trying for three years to find one) and was feeling guilty about racking it with the rest of the harem. Included are a Burner 198, Rossi WC190cm, Coiler RC180, Coiler 172Am, Donek 171FC1+180FC1, O-sin 4807 168cm+178cm. What do you think, sell them or what. Oh yeah, one more board on the radar screen a Virus Vampire175cm (like the one I rode at SES 2006)

  7. This may sound crazy but i put in a false bed bottom in my pickup. A simple box frame with a plywood hinged top and a bed mat covering the whole thing . I also put a lock on it (but more for a visual deterrent). I have to put the 197 Burner in diagonally (short bed Toyota). The whole thing raises the bed bottom up about 6" so you don't notice anything really unusual unless the tailgate is down.

  8. Just curious but being that most of us (uncertified technicians) set up our own equipement could there sometimes be a situation where the toe bail is not adjusted to the proper length of the boot? Would this would put a larger load on the heelpiece? I did a bad job at this and the boot flex popped out of the front bail (loosening the bail in the binding mount). Then the heel somehow twisted out of the rear mount. I was very lucky.

  9. From what I understand the amount of down force on those F1 cars prevents top speeds/straightaway acceleration? The MotoGP bikes have posted faster top speeds at some same tracks however the cornering speed on an F1 is WOW! You think in wind tunnel testing an FI could maybe run in an inverted position?

  10. I believe that one problem you have to watch for (along w/milage) is the number of "heat cycles" you put it thru. DOT or slick they get up to some real hot temps and the oil will cook right out of them (they get "greasy"). Then on top of that if you do track days (maybe one a month or every other) out in SoCal and just roll it in the garage between "days" the dry temps kinda dry the tire out and it gets hard as a rock. DOTs are a bit more tempermental if not ridden at race speeds. If your tires are shredding, then your suspension set up sucks.
