4wd vs. pilot

can you give a novice an opinion as to how the prior 4wd 159 might perform compared to a donek pilot 167? this may be a repeat posting since I wasn't sure the first one got online.if so,sorry.

A more direct comparison would be the 164 or 169 4WD vs the Pilot 167. But in any case, the 4WD is an all-mountain carving board, the Pilot is a freecarve board (not as good for powder or off-piste, better for groomers). Check the specs - look at sidecut radius and waist width especially. This article will help you decide:

I can't speak about the pilot, but I can say that if I had to be stuck with one board it would be my 174 4x4. Wide enough to float in the pow, but can still lean over a mean turn. I usually ride mine in softer conditions and it worked wonderfully in waist deep last year :D
