First and foremost, they provide 12mm of lift to help softbooters keep their toes and heel out of the snow when carving hard. They act much like similar risers by Palmer and Volkl. A side benefit is that they can act as 4x4 <> 3d converters. You can bolt 4x4 bindings to a Burton board with out having to find the proper center disk...
